Premier League Transfers Update: Thiago to Liverpool, Smalling to Newcastle & more

Premier League clubs are gearing in for the next season and are looking at the potential options they could exploit in the market. Although the transfer market has been impacted severely by the pandemic, quite a few Premier League clubs are expected to make some signings that could capture the footballing world’s attention.

Here’s a round-up of all the transfer rumors that have hogged the limelight on Sunday.

Tahith Chong starts training with Werder Bremen

Manchester United announced on their official website on Sunday August 16, 2020 that academy starlet Tahith Chong has joined Bremen on loan for the full 2020/21 campaign. The youngster was pictured training with Bremen earlier on Saturday and has officially completed his move to Germany.

Chong recently signed a contract with United keeping him at the club until 2022. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that he is happy with the Dutchman’s progress at the club and looking at his talent Ole expects him to have a good loan spell.

 

Liverpool agree personal terms with Thiago Alcantara

The Premier League Champions have taken a huge step forward in their pursuit of the Bayern star Thiago which has been well-documented over the past month. According to trusted journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, Liverpool have finally reached agreement over the player on a four-year contract with the club.

Thiago has reportedly shared this with a few of his mates as his house-hunting now in Merseyside. A deal between Bayern and Liverpool is still a long way off but there is more genuine promise now.

 

Lewis Dunk on his way to Stamford Bridge ?

The transfer market usually has its ups and downs but Chelsea seem to be in it to solve all their problems at once as they reportedly eye Brighton defender Lewis Dunk in a bid to solve their defensive issues. The player is a life-long Chelsea fan and a deal for him could cost around 40 million pounds for the Blues according to the Sun.

 

Newcastle United show interest in Chris Smalling

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle aim to take another giant step in the transfer market by signing Chris Smalling from Manchester United this summer. The centre-back had a successful loan stint at Roma in Italy this season but the Italian club has so far failed to reach an agreement with the Manchester club.

With Steve Bruce reportedly being keen to sign British players this summer, Smalling is on the top of his wish-list to solve a few defensive problems. He still has two years remaining on his contract at Manchester United.

Newcastle United are in for Jeff Hendrick

The Magpies are expected to complete the signing of former Burnley winger Jeff Hendrick sometime in the upcoming week. According to TalkSport, the Ireland International is keen on joining Newcastle and him being a free agent makes it easier for the Magpies to sign him. Personal terms are yet to be agreed on paper.
