MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina announced their retirement from international cricket on the 73rd independence day and that sent shockwaves across the country. In a span of thirty minutes, both these wonderful cricketers bid adieu with a post on Instagram and much to the disappointment of their fans, this IPL could be the last time they feature in professional cricket.

As a small tribute to the legendary careers of MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina, here are some numbers from their careers.

#1 – MS Dhoni is miles ahead in most innings & most runs scored in International Cricket as Captain Wicketkeeper. He played 330 innings scoring 11,207 runs. Next to him in the list is Mushfiqur Rahim with 99 innings & 3166 runs.

#2 – In 538 matches at the International arena, MS Dhoni has inflicted 195 stumping next to him in the list are K Sangakkara (139) & RS Kaluwitharana (101).

#3 – MS Dhoni has done the stumping off the bowling of 26 different bowlers across formats.

#4 – MS Dhoni is the only wicketkeeper who has 20+ stumping against 4 oppositions:

Vs Australia 38

Vs Sri Lanka 35

Vs England 26

Vs West Indies 24

#5 – MS Dhoni is the only wicketkeeper in International Cricket who has 50+ catches & 30+ stumping in all 3 formats.

#6 – Suresh Raina & MS Dhoni’s pair has remained not out on 10 occasions in ODI which is the most by a pair scoring 3000+ runs.

#7 – Among the pairs who batted a minimum of 50 innings, Suresh Raina & MS Dhoni averages 56.9 which is the 4th highest by a pair.

#8 – Suresh Raina had played most consecutive matches (158) for a team during his stint with CSK from 2008-2018.

#9 – Suresh holds the record of fastest fifty for his IPL team CSK. He scored his half-century off 16 balls.

#10 – MS Dhoni has hit less than 25 ball half-century (5) for CSK most number of times followed by Suresh Raina & Mathew Hayden with 3 each.

#11 – Suresh Raina was 1st Indian and 3rd overall player to score a century in all 3 formats in International Cricket.

#12 – Suresh Raina is one of those batsmen who scored a duck in ODI debut & century on test debut.

#13 – Suresh Raina is the 2nd youngest man to lead India in any format after Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi.

#14 – Suresh Raina has played the most number of games in the history of IPL. He has played 193 matches.

#15 – He is the 2nd highest run-scorer in the IPL behind Virat Kohli. He has scored 5368 runs.

#16 – Suresh Raina is the first batsman who breached the landmark of 3000 & 5000 runs in IPL.

#17 – Suresh Raina was the first player in IPL history who was stranded on the score of 99. He remained not out on 99 against SRH

#18 – Suresh Raina is the only batsman in the history of IPL who has 300+ runs in every IPL season and has 400+ runs in 9 of those seasons.
