Key Takeaways From UEFA Champions League 2019-2020

The 65th season of Europe’s Premier Club tournament, the UEFA Champions League was eventful for more than one reason. May it be the rise of Atalanta, the robustness of Lyon, the promise of Paris Saint-Germain, the growth of RB Leipzig, the fall of the empire of Barcelona, the jinx of Juventus or the efficiency of Bayern Munich; the tournament had the lot this season.

Erling Haaland was at the centre-stage in the group phase of the tournament whereas the Polish marksman Robert Lewandowski scored 15 goals in the tournament to finish top scorer.

The Novel Coronavirus pandemic meant the tournament took a pit stop during the Round of 16 and raced off the blocks again at the end of the season in August resulting in a fantastic knockout tournament from the quarterfinals in one of the most dramatic fashions in amidst the beauty of Lisbon.

Here are my five key takeaways from a Champions League season that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
