IPL 2020: 5 uncapped players to watch out

The Indian Premier League got postponed due to this unexpected COVID-19 pandemic situation but with BCCI receiving clear permission from the government to host IPL 2020 in UAE, Indian fans can once again experience the game on television. The 2020 edition of the IPL is just a few days away as some big names of the cricket world will gear up to clash against each other in the toughest T20 league on the planet.

While all eyes on our favourite players who will be playing after a long break, the IPL season will also see many young talents making their debuts. IPL has always been able to nurture the talent of young sensations and this season won’t be any different as we’ll come across some new talent performing for the very first time.

It is the big stars who steal the limelight for their team’s success in the IPL. There’s a role of lesser-known or talented uncapped players that become extremely important in the IPL. The most talented uncapped players especially the ones are the game-changing players that create magic on the field.

Last IPL season we saw some of the players like Surya Kumar Yadav, Shreyas Gopal and Nitish Rana showing their amazing performances. But we all know that there is a tough competition to compete with other talented players at an expert level in order to gain a chance to play for the country.

Here’s a list of some uncapped players to watch out for the IPL 2020 season:

#5 R Sai Kishore – Chennai Super Kings

CSK hasn’t given many opportunities to youngsters before IPL 2018 and it’s the experienced one that gets to play the maximum time. But then CSK decided to provide an opportunity to youth stars to showcase their talents on the field and decide to add some youth to the team. The recent one was young England all-rounder Sam Curran. They also signed the local boy R Sai Kishore for Rs. 20 Lakh.

The young left-arm spinner had an amazing performance in the 2019-20 domestic seasons he has been a highly consistent performer in the TNPL. He finished as the highest wicket-taker in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy in which TN were runners up picking up 20 wickets in 12 matches with a brilliant economy of 4.63. He also managed to deliver such good performances in Ranji trophy as well. So in this IPL R Sai Kishore has an opportunity to shine.

#4 Ravi Bishnoi – Kings XI Punjab

The spin department of bowling is the only place where Kings XI Punjab lack and this is a great opportunity for players like Ravi Bishnoi to showcase their talent. The 19-year-old spinner finished as the highest wicket-taker in the U-19 World Cup 2019-20 with 17 wickets in just 6 games at a 3.48 economy rate.

He was signed by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 2 crore after long bidding with Mumbai Indians. The IPL has witnessed many players like Shreyas Gopal, Rahul Chahar and Mayank Markande and with this opportunity, Ravi Bishnoi can also draw a good impact this season.

#3 Shivam Mavi – Kolkata Knight Riders

Former U-19 star Shivam Mavi will be a great one to watch out this season. He caught everyone’s attention in the 2018 U-19 World Cup season. He bowled at a speed of around 140 kmph regularly and soon became the talk of the tournament owing to his fast bowling abilities.

Shivam Mavi played in IPL 2018 in which he was bought by KKR for 3 crore but was ruled out of IPL 2019 catching an injury. He gave some excellent performances in emerging players Asia cup and Ranji trophy as well. If he manages to stay fit throughout the tournament then it will be exciting to watch him perform.

#2 Anukul Roy – Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have been introducing many young stars with the young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar who recently got an opportunity to earn a cap for the national side. Though Mumbai Indians have some good spin options like Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya, an addition of U-19 former star Anukul Roy will be a great opportunity.

Being a slow left-armer and a left-hand batsman,it is a no-brainer that Roy looks up to Ravindra Jadeja for inspiration. Anukul Roy debuted for Jharkhand in the List-A format. Roy finished as the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 14 wickets in 6 matches with an economy rate of 3.84. he is likely to get an opportunity as an extra spinner. 

 1# Yashasvi Jaiswal – Rajasthan Royals

As we are all aware with the name as he managed to gain popularity during the IPL auctions. Yashashvi Jaiswal’s cricketing journey is an inspiration to many people. The boy who used to sell Pani Puri now plays for the India U-19 whose hard work and dedication gave him a platform to showcase his talent. In October 2019, he became the youngest cricketer in the world to score a double century by smashing 203 runs off 154 balls.

He was signed by Rajasthan Royals for a massive 2.4 crore price. With the absence of Ajinkya Rahane, he can be expected to fit in the top order slot from the start of the tournament. If he gets chances, the youngster will be keen to perform at his level best.
