A Throwback to the Best Catches in VIVO IPL 2019


We are all aware that we are just a couple of days away from IPL 2020 season to begin and are very much excited to encounter yet another amazing IPL season. A wise man once said that “A good batsman will complete his duty by scoring good amount of runs, a bowler will complete his duty by taking wickets but a good fielder will always save runs for your team”. Every team has got some good fielding additions to their team who always perform the best at their end preventing the extra runs. We enjoy some good level of performances from fielders like Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja every year.

#5. Collin Ingram – DC vs. KXIP match 37

Collin Ingram, the South African star who plays for the Delhi Capitals took an amazing catch at the boundary end in the match number 37 of the 2019 IPL season. Chris Gayle who looked dangerous with his hitting abilities was caught up by Ingram providing a moment of confidence to Delhi Capitals.

Gayle smashed the short mid-on delivery into the air which was travelling for a six and Ingram who was present on the boundary line tried to grab the catch but lost his balance somehow and fell backwards. But still he managed to keep the ball into the ground by throwing it back into the field where Axar Patel was already present and just had to grab the ball which turned out to be an amazing catch where Gayle was dismissed after scoring a half century.


#4. Dinesh Karthik – KKR vs. MI match 56

Dinesh Karthik is among one of the best keepers of India who was nominated in the race to take one of the finest catches in the 2019 IPL season. He took the catch of Quinton de Kock who tried to play hook shot but the ball touched the top edge and flew towards the fine leg.

Dinesh Karthik had all eyes on the ball and he chased the ball running towards the direction and at last he managed to catch the ball by dividing forward to take an extraordinary catch.  An overall fantastic effort provided by Karthik that gave Prasidh Krishna a wicket on the very first ball of the 7thover.


#3. Faf Du Plessis – CSK vs. RCB match 39

Du Plessis is considered as one of the best fielders especially when it comes to taking catches. The best one among that came in the CSK vs. RCB match where Du Plessis grabbed the catch of Marcus Stoinis near the boundary edge giving Imran Tahir an excellent wicket.

The ball was a bit far from the reach of Du Plessis. Du Plessis ran with all eyes on the ball and somehow got a hand on the ball but lost his balance by falling towards the boundary. He kept the ball into the pitch by throwing it towards Dhruv Shorey, the fielder who was present nearby. The ball was simply collected by Shorey that turned out to be an amazing wicket.

#2. KL Rahul – KXIP vs RR match 4

KL Rahul is an excellent fielder, batsman and a wicket keeper. In short he is an overall performer. KL Rahul took an amazing running catch of Steve Smith in the first match of KXIP.

When RR looked dangerous at the batting end, Rahul grabbed this amazing catch by running towards the back and grabbing the ball wonderfully by making a dive just near the boundary line.


#1. Kieron Pollard – MI vs. CSK match 15

It was the Match 15 encounter between MI and CSK, two of the best teams in IPL where Kieron Pollard took an excellent single-handed catch of Suresh Raina. The ball was over his head but he managed to stretch his arm and grab the ball by pushing himself a bit backward.

For this amazing catch Pollard won the Perfect Catch of the Season Award after Sunday’s IPL final as the catch was selected as the best catch of IPL 2019 season.


So we encountered some of the exciting catches of IPL 2019 season and the same will be experienced this season too with a different level of excitement.
