IPL 2020: Kings XI Punjab beats Royal Challengers Bangalore by 97 runs


Yesterday we experienced a yet another exciting match of IPL between Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore which was played at the Dubai International Stadium. It was all over when Ashwin took the wicket of Chahal and winning the game by 97 runs. KL Rahul gave an extraordinary performance by providing a win to KXIP playing a brilliant captain’s role against RCB.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first

Kohli said that it was a great wicket pitch and so the decision was to bowl first and also stated that the team was unchanged for the game.

Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul started an amazing opening partnership of 57 runs after which Punjab lost their 1st wicket in the form of Mayank Agarwal.

50 for Rahul

KL Rahul completed his 17th IPL half-century. Partnership between KL Rahul and Pooran was of 43 runs making the score of Punjab 100-1 after 12 overs.

Kohli drops the catch and century for Rahul

Rahul tried to accelerate the run chase with a shot at the boundary side where Kohli was present to grab it but he failed to collect the ball dropping 2 excellent catching opportunity due to which Rahul was able to complete his century and scored an overall 132 runs of 69 balls-the highest ever scored by an IPL captain. Outstanding innings by the KXIP where they managed to set a target of 207 runs in 20 overs.

Start of the 2nd inning

Devdutt failed to prove a good performance after being dismissed on 1 run where RCB lost an early wicket to KXIP. Punjab was on fire as Shami took another wicket dismissing Josh Phillipe for a duck. Bangalore came into trouble when Kohli was dismissed and the score line was 5/3 after 3 overs.

Now the major role had to be played by AB de Villers after such early dismissals occurred for RCB. De Villers and Finch started to take the score line up for RCB when Bishnoi managed to take the wicket of Aaron Finch  and the partnership was broken at 48/3 for RCB after 7 overs.

Punjab managed to get another breakthrough when Murugan Ashwin took the wicket of AB De Villers and the overall RCB score was 60/5 after 9 overs. After that Dube and Sundar started to make a slow start with singles and doubles trying to take the score up. Glenn Maxwell made a break through by dismissing Shivam Dube in the 13th over.

It was almost over for RCB when back to back wickets were taken by KXIP and the RCB team was all-out for 107-10 in 17 overs.

Kohli’s statement

Kohli said in the post match interview that it didn’t go well for their side. These are days that these kinds of things happen on the field, and we have to accept it. We had a good game and a bad game and now it is time to move on and learn from our mistakes.

Punjab sweeping the awards

KL Rahul becomes the current orange cap holder of IPL 2020 by scoring a total of 153 runs so far and at the same time Shami earns the purple cap by taking a total of 4 wickets which shows that KXIP are in the mood of sweep the awards with a brilliant performance.

So it was an amazing overall win where KXIP maintained their shine with an amazing performance.

Today’s match will be played between the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals starting at 7:30 PM IST.
