IPL 2020 M15 – Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Rajasthan Royals – Preview

This Saturday, there will be two doubleheaders in the IPL 2020 season. The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals will be the first of the day.

This encounter between the two Royals will be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Steve Smith Vs Virat Kohli – The battle between the two giants of International Cricket will make this match more interesting for the viewers. The Royals are coming from a loss to Kolkata Knight Riders, and Bangalore won a great contest against Mumbai Indians in the Super Over.

Both teams have a strong batting line up. But the double R’s are more reliant on their top three. On the contrary, Bangalore has more depth in their batting. RCB also has two experienced spin bowlers in their playing XI. But Rajasthan doesn’t have that luxury.

The Stats say that Rajasthan has won more games than Bangalore. The Royals have won ten IPL matches, and Royal Challengers Bangalore have won eight games from 21 encounters played between the two teams.

Will Bangalore present a stern challenge in front of the Royals?

That’s the question that everyone wants to know. Virat and his men had a great win over Mumbai Indians. They did everything right in their batting which is why they were on the winning side.

Like always, the batting has been the strength of Bangalore. They also won their first game because of their batting skills. In the first game which was played against Hyderabad, Devdutt Padikkal and AB De Villiers scored their half-centuries. Devdutt started well, and ABD finished the game well.

Padikkal and ABD repeated the same scenario in that match against Mumbai Indians. The openers got the perfect start for them. Finch and Padikkal slammed their half-centuries and then, AB De Villiers finished the game in style. It was his half-century which allowed RCB to post more than 200 runs on the board.

RCB will want these three players to perform with the same intensity and consistency in the game against the Royals. But they will also want Virat Kohli to score runs. Kohli hasn’t been firing for them in this season. Virat has played three matches till now, and still, he hasn’t found his groove yet.

In the earlier seasons, the batting of Bangalore was entirely reliant on the skipper. But now they won two matches without a significant contribution from Kohli. That is very good for RCB as a team perspective. But fans also want Virat to score runs with ABD, Finch, and Padikkal.

Virat bats at number three position. Even if the openers give a solid start, Kohli has a fair amount of time to get settled at the crease and score runs for his side. Kohli’s big knock in the 2020 season is still dew, and his fans hope that he gets amongst the runs for his side in this match.

RCB has finishers like Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar. They don’t need any changes in their squad right now because both the bowling all-rounders can hit the ball to a fare distance and if ABD bats till the end, then there is every possibility that Bangalore could score more than 200 runs in their 20 overs.

The bowlers were ones who saved RCB from the jaws of defeat in the last match. Adding Isuru Udana and Adam Zampa was an excellent option. The Challengers can continue with them for this match. Sundar’s bowling has been effective in the power play. But Kohli might not think of using him as there will be a risk for Bangalore. Steve Smith and Sanju Samson are in good form. If RCB bowlers pick up their wickets early, then their half the job is done.

Probable Playing XI of Royal Challengers Bangalore –  Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Adam Zampa, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

RR – Rajasthan Royals – Team’s Preview

The Double R’s have chased down the highest total of 226 runs against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday. But against Kolkata Knight Riders, their batting failed to deliver in the run chase of a decent score.

The size matters for Rajasthan; they could clear the boundary ropes at Sharjah with ease because the boundaries are shorter at that venue. But when they came to play in Dubai, they struggled to match up to their hitting skills.

Steve Smith and Co. need to quickly assess this weak point because the boundaries are also larger at Abu Dhabi where they will face Bangalore. RCB also has a good bowling attack, they have the spinners like Chahal and Zampa who can trouble RR with their spin, and the pace bowlers like Udana, Saini, and Dube will come at them with the new ball and in death overs.

Rajasthan needs a good opening stand from Buttler and Smith. They also need runs from their middle-order, which looks weak in the comparison of RCB. Uthappa and Riyan Parag have failed to deliver.

That’s why Rajasthan should drop Buttler and open with Smith and Samson in the next match. They can include David Miller, who can be the finisher along with the inexperienced players like Tewatia and Parag.

Apart from the last game, Smith and Samson have batted well for RR. They have been the two best players from this side, and they should get the full 20 overs to bat. If Smith can bat throughout the 20 overs like did against Chennai, then RR has a chance of winning this game.

RR can also drop Tom Curran, who hasn’t been effective with the ball. He scored vital 54 runs in the game against Kolkata. But RR needs someone like Andrew Tye who will be accurate with his line and length.

Archer has been bowling well for them. But Tom Curran hadn’t shown that accuracy with the ball if Andrew Tye could replicate his performance when he was with Kings XI Punjab than it could come handy for the double R’s.

Rajasthan’s spin department is also weak when it is compared to Chahal and Zampa who are in RCB squad. Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia are still inexperienced. Royals can include Mayank Markande in this match. He played well from the Mumbai Indians franchise, and he can be more effective than Gopal on the slow tracks of Abu Dhabi.

Probable Playing XI of Rajasthan Royals – Steven Smith, Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa, David Miller,  Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Andrew Tye, Ankit Rajpoot, Jaydev Unadkat, and Mayank Markande.

This match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals will be brought live by Star Sports Networks on 3rd October 2020, Saturday. The time of this match is – 3.30 PM IST, 10.00 AM GMT and 2.00 PM Local. Live streaming will also be available on HOTSTAR mobile application.
