Delhi had started the tournament well with two wins. The capitals won the super over against Kings XI Punjab, and they played well to hammer the three-time champion, Chennai Super Kings. But the Capitals will be going into this match after they lost their first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kolkata started their IPL 2020 campaign with a loss against Mumbai Indians. But they bounced back nicely with two back to back wins. Their wins against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals will boost their confidence ahead of this match against Delhi.

This contest will be between the experienced Dinesh Karthik and the youth icon Shreyas Iyer. According to the stats, Kolkata and Delhi have played 23 games so far, and in that, Kolkata has won 13 matches, while The Capitals have won 10 of them.

DC – Delhi Capitals – Team’s Preview

The Capitals lost their first game of this season because of their batting failure. They were on top of the points table with two wins. But the loss against Hyderabad removed them from that top position. Capitals should aim to win this encounter against Knight Riders, due to which they can again go back to the top of the table.

The top three players from the Delhi Capitals should perform. If Dhawan, Shaw and Iyer score runs then only the middle order batsmen from Delhi will be useful. DC is also over-reliant on their top three.

They won the game against Chennai because the openers laid a good foundation and then the middle order came to take the game away from the men in yellow. If openers fail to put up a good start, then the likes of Pant, Hetmyer and Stoinis will struggle to deliver their best.

Shreyas Iyer too will play an important as the skipper of the team. The number 3 position suits him in this batting line up of Delhi. He played well against Punjab and Chennai. He has to score big for DC if they bat first on Saturday evening.

Again, all the eyes will be on the young and flamboyant Rishabh Pant. It is a national debate whenever Pant plays. Whether he plays for India or Delhi Capitals Pant is always in the news.

The natural attacking style has been missing from Pant. He has been too careful at the start, which has put more pressure on him.

He hasn’t hit sixes at will as he has smashed in the previous seasons. He started his Test career in England with a six, that’s the talent he possesses. Maybe, due to many comments and criticism on his shot selection and consistency, Pant has found difficulty in attacking the ball.

Shimron Hetmyer is another talented batsman who is not performed for the Capitals. DC needs runs from this talented West Indies. This game might be the last chance for Hetmyer, if he doesn’t hit the ball, then Delhi might look at some other options.

The bowling department of Delhi has no worries. The likes of Rabada and Nortje have performed brilliantly for them. Ishant Sharma is the new addition to the squad. His inclusion will give depth and experience in the bowling department of Delhi.

Despite no Ashwin, the spin department of Delhi looks lethal. Mishra Ji and Axar Patel have been good. But they might go for runs if they are not accurate with their line and length. The bowlers cant miss their line and length by an inch at Sharjah where the boundaries are shorter and comfortable for the batsmen to score runs.

DC might include Ashwin instead of Axar for this match. Ashwin has the experience, and he will be more accurate then Patel.

Probable Playing XI of Delhi Capitals –  Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Ravi Ashwin,  Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, and Anrich Nortje.

KKR – Kolkata Knight Riders – Team’s Preview

It has been a remarkable comeback from Kolkata Knight Riders. They have two back to back wins before they go into this match, that’s what puts them slightly ahead of Delhi Capitals. KKR batted well, but they need a specialist opener in their playing XI.

Now they should stop the experiment of Gautam Gambhir which worked them for years. It was Gauti’s idea to send Sunil Narine as an opening batsman. Thankfully it worked. But now Narine has failed to deliver as the opener.

Kolkata needs someone like Rahul Tripathi in their playing XI. Shubman Gill is doing a fine job as an opener.

He made a useful 70 runs against Hyderabad in that run chase, and he also scored 47 runs against Rajasthan which helped KKR to be in the game.

The form of Dinesh Karthik will also be a worry for KKR. Knight Riders will want their captain to deliver against Delhi Capitals. DK has been struggling. He has to bat well his at preferred number four position as Nitish Rana will bat at number 3 position.

Morgan will bring all his experience and calmness in the batting order of KKR. He delivered twice for them in challenging situations. He was the one who guided Kolkata home in that run chase, and his knock of 34 runs was also vital against Rajasthan Royals.

Andre Russell is the one who can finish the games for Kolkata. He has been striking big, and KKR hopes that he delivers for them just like Pollard did it for Mumbai Indians on Thursday night. One cannot forget Russell’s contribution with the ball. His four overs will be crucial.

India has got the bowling talent. This statement was proved right by Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagakoti and Varun Chakravarthy. They performed brilliantly in the last game. After the batsmen, these three were the architects of that win for KKR.

Now there will be more expectations from these three after their brilliant performance in the last match.

The Probable Playing XI of Kolkata Knight Riders – Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Kamlesh Nagarkoti.

This match will be brought live by Star Sports Networks on 3rd October 2020, Saturday. The time of this match is – 7.30 PM IST, 2.00 AM GMT, and 6.00 PM Local. Live streaming will also be available on HOTSTAR mobile application.
