There is no match up between Dhoni and Rahul. Many believe that MS Dhoni is the one who has shaped the career of KL Rahul and that’s why KL has become the finest white-ball openers for India in the International Cricket arena.

But for the moment, KL Rahul will have to forget all those things because he needs to get going for Punjab in this tournament. It has been an unluckily start for Punjab. They should have won the match against Delhi Capitals. But they lost in the super over.

KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal batted well against Rajasthan Royals. Mayank’s century and Rahul’s fifty allowed Punjab to post a formidable score of 226 runs at Sharjah. But the bowlers spoiled the game, and Punjab lost that encounter as well.

Their win against Royal Challengers Bangalore was mainly due to the heroics knock of KL Rahul. The skipper of Kings XI Punjab smashed an unbeaten 132 runs which allowed them to beat RCB by 97 runs. Then their loss to Mumbai was the only compressive loss which they faced.

Super Kings started their IPL 2020 season campaign on an excellent note. They defeated the defending champions Mumbai Indians comprehensively. Then they had to face three back to back losses which have put them at the bottom of the table.

The record of Chennai Super Kings against all the opponents has been good. According to the stats, the men in yellow have the upper hand over Kings XI Punjab. CSK has won 13 games in 22 matches played against KXIP and Punjab has just nine wins to their name against the three-time champion.

CSK – Chennai Super Kings – Team’s Preview

It as in 2014 when Chennai Super Kings lost their three back to back matches in the IPL. Chennai has found no clue in their batting order. Without Suresh Raina, there has been no intensity shown from the other CSK players.

There have been no good opening partnerships. Chennai opened with Faf and Watto in the last match.

But Watson’s struggle continued in that match also. Faf is the highest run maker for the Super Kings. But he too got early in the last game. Then, the comeback of Amabti Rayudu wasn’t a good one. He was also dismissed early.

The top three has to perform well for Chennai in the next game against Kings XI Punjab. They need to show the right intensity, which has been missing from the last three matches. They also need to take a little bit of risk at the start.

So, that doesn’t pressure on the middle order. The batting form of Kedar Jadhav is another concern for CSK. Jadhav hasn’t been great for them. But still, he has been getting chances. Chennai should drop him and get a youngster like N Jagadeshan in the playing XI.

Chennai should invest in young players like the other teams have done. They should give them a consistent go for the newcomers like N Jagadeshan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and KM Asif. They should drop Jadhav and get in Gaikwad, and they should also replace Watson with N Jagadeshan at the top order.

KM Asif, the pace bowler, should come in for Deepak Chachar. They should make these three changes in their playing XI for the next game. Ravindra Jadeja scored his maiden IPL fifty in the last game, and his partnership with MS Dhoni took us back to the semi-final match against New Zealand.

India was in a similar situation when Dhoni and Jaddu tried to bail India out from that tricky situation. In that match also, India couldn’t win, and yesterday also the result was the same. But still, the half-century from Jaddu is a positive sign form the CSK perspective.

CSK has depth in the batting order with the arrival of Bravo. They should have promoted DJ Bravo or Sam Curran instead of giving another opportunity to Kedar Jadhav. Bravo and Sam Curran are the big hitters in the CSK batting, they could have done half the job, so Jaddu and Dhoni wouldn’t have been under so much pressure.

Dhoni’s should change his batting order. Mahi can bat at number 3 position in the next game. That will give him ample to settle and score big runs for CSK.

There are no issues in the bowling department of CSK. But including Asif will not hurt them but it can give them an extra bowling option with Bravo, Curran, Thakur, Jadeja and Chawla.

The Probable and Predicted Playing XI of Chennai Super Kings –  Faf Du Plessis, N Jagadeshan, Ambati Rayudu, Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni, DJ Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Shardul Thakur, Piyush Chawla and KM Asif.

KXIP – Kings XI Punjab – Team’s Preview

The problems are different for Punjab. The Kings XI have a good opening pair. But they need someone like Mayank Agarwal at number three position. Agarwal can be the batsman who can hold the innings in that struggling middle order.

KL Rahul can open the innings with Chris Gayle in case Punjab push Agarwal to number 3 position. Then Nicholas Poorran would be dropped from the squad. But still, the responsibility will be on Maxwell and Nair to bat through the innings.

Maxwell has not been performing for Punjab team in the middle order. Deepak Hooda has the experience. He played decently for Sunrisers Hyderabad so he can be the middle-order player.

Kings can sort their batting middle-order batting woes by including batsmen like Hooda, and they have Sarfaraz Khan as well. But another worry for them is death overs bowling. Their bowling in the last overs went wrong against Mumbai Indians.

Punjab gave away plenty in their last four overs which is also the reason why they lost against MI. Bowling the final over from Krishnappa Gowtham was a wrong idea from KL Rahul. Gowtham is a spin bowling all-rounder who can used in the middle overs.

Punjab should drop James Neesham. He was too expensive in the last game. Mujeeb Ur Rahaman will be the perfect replacement for the next match.

Punjab will want Cottrell and Shami to start well for them. But still bowling in the final overs will be a huge concern for them.

Probable and Predicted Playing XI of Kings XI Punjab – Lokesh Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal,   Karun Nair, Deepak Hooda,  Sarfaraz Khan, Krishnappa Gowtham, Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell, Ravi Bishnoi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

This match will be brought live on the Star Sports Networks, and the live streaming will be available on the HOTSTAR mobile applications. This match will start at 7.30, according to the Indian Standard Time, 2 PM GMT AND 6 PM Local Time.
