IPL 2020: SRH beat CSK by 7 runs in an exciting encounter


Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to secure their second win of IPL 2020. CSK has now lost 3 matches in a row since the 2014 IPL.

#1. SRH won the toss & elected to bat first

David Warner & Bairstow opened the batting order for SRH and Deepak Chahar was ready with the new ball. Chahar got an early knock by dismissing Bairstow for a duck in the very first over.

Warner & Manish Pandey started scoring some runs making the SRH score 47/1 after completion of 7 overs. CSK got another wicket in the form of Manish Pandey who looked dangerous in batting. Williamson entered the field but couldn’t manage to score many runs and was dismissed for just 9 runs.

#2. Turning Point

SRH were 77/4 in 13 overs where both youngsters Abhishek Sharma & Priyam Garg were on the field to add some runs. Both the players started to add runs and they scored some brilliant shots. It was a wonderful catch opportunity where CSK could strike a wicket of Priyam Garg.

Jadeja missed 2 back-to-back catching opportunities in the 18th over. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed with a great catch taken by Dhoni. Chahar now reached the 100th wicket mark in T20 with this wicket.

#3. 50 for Garg

Garg continued to score some good amount of runs and finally, he managed to score his 1st IPL 50 off just 23 balls, a pure class performance from a 19-year-old.

SRH managed to set a target of 165 with the score remaining 164/5 after 20 overs.

#4. Second Innings

Du Plessis & Watson opened up the batting for CSK with Bhuvaneshwar to ball the new ball. Bhuvi bowled an amazing 1st over by giving just 1 run from the over. CSK lost their 1st wicket in the 3rd over where Watson was dismissed on 1 run and Bhuvi made an early strike.

Du Plessis was managing to add some runs to the score but he lost his wicket in the 6th over with a run-out. The ball was excellently thrown on time by Garg and Bairstow had hit the stumps before Du Plessis could complete the run.

CSK was in trouble after the dismissal of Du Plessis. Dhoni entered the field up the order. Dhoni was adjusting himself and he started to score some runs slowly. Abdul Samad bowled the 9th over for the 1st time. Warner gave him a chance to prove himself in bowling as well. He made an exciting start by dismissing Kedar Jadhav.

Dhoni & Jadeja had to continue the run now. They managed to score some good amount of runs taking the run chase closer & closer. Both the players added some runs & took the score to 102/4 in 17 overs.

#5. 50 for Jadeja

Jadeja completed his half-century with a flat 6 in the 18th over. He scored 50 in 34 balls and he reached the 2000 runs mark in IPL. He got dismissed on the very next ball hitting straight towards Abdul Samad.

Sam Curran entered the field and scored a sixer on the very first ball. He had hit one of the biggest sixes of the tournament that was 86 meters. They started to add the runs slowly but Dhoni making full efforts by converting singles into doubles. Bhuvneshwar faced a cramp after bowling the first ball of the 19th over. He couldn’t bowl further and Khaleel replaced him to complete the over.

The last over was to be bowled by Abdul Samad with 28 runs needed of 6 balls. He started off the over by giving a wide+four. CSK fell in short of just 7 runs to chase the scoreline and CSK faced 3 losses in a row.

Dhoni managed to perform at his level best but fell just short of runs to reach the target.

Priyam Garg was named the Player of the Match. Excellent performance from the youngster.

Today’s match will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals at 3:30 PM IST and Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at 7:30 PM IST.
