ISL Weekly Transfer Round-up


ISL Transfer, signings, and contract extensions from last week.

Pretty diminish week in the ISL transfer world keeping the last week fires in mind. Six clubs actively involved in the acquisitions of players in this week.

#1. Kerala Blasters FC

Kerala Blasters FC announced on Friday that Kannoly Praveen a.k.a. KP Rahul has extended his stay at the club. The 20-year-old talented local winger signed a three-year contract extension with Tuskers. Thrissur boy was a product of AIFF Elite Academy and went on to represent India in the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup. The Pacy winger was named in the starting lineup of all three matches of India in that World Cup campaign. He joined the Kerala Blasters club after spending two seasons with AIFF developmental side Indian Arrows.

Rahul made eight appearances for Blasters in the 2019-20 season and also scored one goal against Hyderabad FC. Manjappada fans are pleased with the extension news of local star.

#2. ATK Mohun Bagan

ATK Mohun Bagan officially completed their foreign roster by signing attacking midfielder Javi Hernandez. The Spaniard played important role in the title-winning run of ATK last season and extended his stay for another year after the merger. The midfielder maestro made 20 appearances for ATK and also scored two goals in last season. He came from the youth ranks of Spanish giants Ral Madrid. The extension announcement of Spaniard was just formality as everyone was aware of this move.

#3. Chennaiyin FC


Chennaiyin FC acquired the service of 32-year-old Brazilian midfielder Memo Moura. The defensive midfielder is a well-known face among Indian football fans as he played for two ISL clubs earlier. His first experience in Indian football started with Delhi Dynamos in 2016 where he made 10 appearances in the semifinal run. After an impressive campaign with Delhi, he joined the newly formed Jamshedpur FC and stayed with the club for three years.

He operated as the engine of the Jamshedpur midfield and widely regarded as one of the best holding midfielders in the history of the league. Memo is known for his rock presence in midfield and joined the Machans after his contract with Jamshedpur expired.

#4. Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad ticked down foreign roster haul last week and now looking for strengthening the Indian players’ section. Hyderabad FC extended the contracts of two promising youngsters as part of this process. The 22-year-old goalkeeper Anuj Kumar was part of FC Pune City youth setup and spent the 2019-20 season with Indian Arrows on loan from Hyderabad. Mumbai-based youth sensation Nikhil Prabhu is a rising star who plays as a central defender. Nikhil spent last season as captain of the Hyderabad reserve side and got a promotion to first-team for 2020-21 season with a long-term contract.

#5. FC Goa

FC Goa opened their foreign cards slowly till last and now started the preparation of squad rebuild with Indian players. Gaurs banged the Indian transfer window by signing two rising prospects in attack. Goa announced the arrival of Devendra Murgaonkar from Salgaocar who plays in Goa Pro League. The 21-year-old local forward joins the Goan outfit on an undisclosed transfer fee with a three-year contract. He made his name in Goan local football by scoring 29 goals in the last two Goa Pro League seasons.

FC Goa chief Spaniard Juan Ferrando’s next signing also has Spanish flavor in him. It’s the homecoming of the 22-year-old high-profile Indian forward Ishan Pandita. Ishan has quite good popularity among Indian fans after spending the majority of football career with lower-division Spanish clubs. He played for the Tercera division side Lorca FC and emerged as the highest goalscorer for the club in the 2019-20 season. The hype and expectations around the Bengaluru-born player makes him TSD’s signing of the week.

#6. NorthEast United FC

After ISL transfer explosions last week, coach Gerard Nus continued the same this week too. NorthEast United added Northern Irish-born Australia and former Wellington Phoenix FC player Dylan Fox in the foreign roster. The 26-year-old central defender left Wellington Phoenix to join the Korean side FC Anyang but failed to make first-team appearances there. Then he returned back to Australia and spent the 2019-20 season with Gosford-based outfit Central Coast Mariners. Fox joined Highlanders with season-long contract.

Then NorthEast went on to announce the arrival of another foreign central defender. The 33-year-old Belgian center-back Benjamin Lambot joined NorthEast ahead of the 2020-21 season from Cyprus club Nea Salamis Famagusta FC. NEUFC included well established Indian name VP Suhair in camp. The 28-year-old Kerala-born striker played for Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan in the 2019-20 season. Suhair will make his debut in ISL with NorthEast after playing the past four seasons with Gokulam Kerala, East Bengal, and Mohun Bagan in I-League.
