The Delhi Capitals has been a team to beat in this Indian Premier League season 2020. They have been coming up winning some perfect games, and due to that, DC has again holds the top spot of the IPL 2020 points table.

Yesterday, Delhi Capitals won the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore comprehensively. It was a perfect game for them where the openers and the middle order both contributed with the bat and then, the bowlers applied pressure on RCB, which allowed them to win this encounter by 59 runs.

Chasing and winning at Dubai International Stadium is not easy. It is only the Chennai Super Kings who won the match against Kings XI Punjab when they chased a target of 179 runs on Sunday. But the other hasn’t been successfully doing that.

Still, Royal Challengers Bangalore bowled first after they won the toss, and they paid the price for it. RCB are not good chasers. They have just won one match while chasing. That win for the red team came against Rajasthan Royals, where they chased down a modest score of 158 runs.

The DC openers started their innings well. Shaw was the aggressor initially, but Gabbar Dhawan also didn’t stay quiet for too long. They maximized the power play overs by hitting a flurry of boundaries and sixes to RCB’s leading bowler Chahal.

Yuzvendra Chahal, Isuru Udana, and Navdeep Saini were taken for plenty in the first six overs of the powerplay, and that’s where RCB lost their momentum. The DC openers scored 60 runs in the powerplay overs, and their opening stand cost RCB 68 runs.

It was Mohd Siraj who broke this stand when he picked up the wicket of Prithvi Shaw for 42 runs. Then after three overs, Isuru Udana got the wicket of Dhawan for 32 runs. Gabbar again failed to convert the start into a good score.

Delhi also lost their skipper Shreyas Iyer due to an outstanding catch taken on the boundary by Devdutt Padikkal, and suddenly, DC lost three quick wickets even before they reached the hundred run mark. But still, they recovered well and posted a good score on the board.

Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis shared a good partnership which allowed Delhi Capitals to score 196 runs after they finished their quota of 20 overs. The two great hitters from DC shared a partnership of 85 runs due to which they posted that excellent score on the board.

Pant played well, but if he had stayed unbeaten until the end, DC would have scored 200 runs with ease. In this IPL season so far, Pant has wasted a lot of opportunities. He again got himself a got start. But he didn’t convert that into a good score. Pant was clean bowled by Siraj for 37 runs.

Then it was Marcus Stoinis who made his full use of the drop chance. Yuvendra Chahal dropped the Aussie all-rounder on the boundary line, and then it was Stoinis’s show which pushed RCB out of this contest.

Marcus scored unbeaten 53 runs, which allowed Delhi Capitals to score 196 runs at the end of their 20 overs. Shimron Hetmyer was another batsman who was not out on 11 runs.

RCB had a bad day overall. The only good thing for them was that they won the toss. But after that, nothing went according to the plans of Virat Kohli. Mohd Siraj picked up two wickets, and Washington Sundar was economical in the powerplay overs. But he couldn’t pick up a single wicket to his name.  Moeen Ali and Isuru Udana were the other bowlers who picked up one wicket each to their names.

The chase wasn’t a tough one for the batting line up of RCB, and they also had Moeen Ali in this playing XI. Ali inclusion adds depth to RCB’s batting. But they failed to chase down the score just like the other teams in Dubai.

Aaron Finch was three times lucky that his catch were dropped. Still, the Aussie ODI and T20 skipper didn’t make use of it. He was dismissed after his opening partner Devdutt Padikkal was out in the second over.

Padikkal managed to score just four runs while Aaron Finch scored just 13 runs. Then it was only Kohli who stood up for his team. AB De Villiers played an excellent drive, that fetched him a boundary, but ABD tried to repeat that shot and got out for just nine runs.

After the openers and ABD was dismissed, it was all upon Virat Kohli, the chase master, to guide the men in red team through in this challenging run chase. Moeen Ali gave little support to his RCB skipper. But he was also dismissed for 11 runs.

RCB lost wickets in a flurry. Virat Kohli also perished for 43 runs. Then the lower order couldn’t manage to do much. Sundar and Dube were the big hitters in the RCB camp. But in this match, Rabada picked up their wickets for low scorers.

In the end, RCB managed only 137 runs on the board with the loss of 9 wickets after their 20 overs were completed. DC’s bowlers were fantastic, and they ran through the powerful batting line up of RCB.

Rabada was awesome. He picked up four wickets and supporting him, Nortje and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each alongside Ashwin, who picked up one wicket to his name. Due to this collective effort, DC won the match by 59 runs in the end.

The next match will be played on 6 October 2020 between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi at 7.30 PM, according to the IST.
