No Bhuvi for SRH in IPL 2020 due to injury

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, known as Bhuvi sustained an injury in the match against Chennai Super Kings. Sunrisers Hyderabad won that match, but they lost Bhuvi for the remainder of the tournament. Bhuvi was also their main hero when Sunrisers Hyderabad won their IPL title in 2016.

Kumar had picked up the most wickets in the 2016 IPL season, and that was also the main reason why Sunrisers Hyderabad won the IPL trophy. In the IPL 2020 match, which was played against Chennai Super Kings on Friday, Bhuvi couldn’t complete his overs.

Bhuvi featured in the first four matches of this season. He picked up three wickets at an economy of 6.98. He limped off the field, and it was Adul Samad who completed that over of Bhuvneshwar Kumar against CSK.

SRH needed Bhuvi for this season. Despite winning the game against Chennai, they are on the second half of the IPL points table. SRH lost their recent match against Mumbai Indians at Sharjah, and their next game is against Kings XI Punjab on Thursday, 8th October 2020.

Now it will be hard for the Orange army to make it to the playoff in the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

The injury of Bhuvi is not new. He missed some games in the IPL 2018 season as well, and in that season, SRH, under Kane Williamson, reached the finals of the tournament. But they lost to the Super Kings in the finals.

In 2018, Bhuvneshwar also missed the first two ODI matches and the final T20 International match on India’s Tour of England due to the similar issues. But he returned in the home Test series against West Indies and he was rested for the two ODI matches to manage his workload.

Bhuvi also travelled to Australia inn the tour of 2018 and 19.  He wasn’t fit, and he didn’t get a single Test match to play on that tour. Then in the 2019 world cup, Bhuvi missed the games that India that played against West Indies. Afghanistan and England.

India went to the West Indies after their semi-final loss to New Zealand. But Bhuvi was not in the squad. Later, he also missed the home series against South Africa due to side strain. The men in blue played three-match Test series and three-match series in the shortest format.

Bhuvi wasn’t the part of the squad, but he still joined the team for preparation of the T20I series against West Indies. Now again that Bhuvi is down with injury, SRH has named the replacement for this fast bowler.

The 22-year-old pacer from Andhra Pradesh, Prithvi Raj Yarra, will replace Bhuvi in the SRH squad. Yarra was with the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in 2019 IPL season. He played his debut game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and he went on to play one more match against Rajasthan Royals.

But for the IPL 2020 season, the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise released him. Now, that is every possibility that Yarra will play his first IPL game for the orange army.
