IPL 2020-M22– Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs Kings XI Punjab – Preview

The encounter of match number 22 is to played between the teams who have the best batsmen and the best bowlers. But both the teams haven’t performed well. Both the teams have a talented side on the paper. Still, they are on the bottom of the points table.

It is the Orange Army of SRH who will take on the KXIP at Dubai International Stadium on Thursday, 08th October 2020.

Kings XI Punjab will be the more hurt after their ten-wicket loss to Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. At the same time, Sunrisers Hyderabad also will not be pleased with the performance that gave against Mumbai Indians on Saturday afternoon.

Both KXIP and SRH will want to get back in the winning ways. SRH won the games against Chennai and Delhi after Bangalore and Kolkata hammered them. While KXIP has just one win under their belt. That win came mainly because of KL Rahul’s brilliant ton.

SRH has a big blow ahead of this match against KXIP. Their premier bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will not participate in the IPL 2020 season anymore. Bhuvi was hit with a thigh muscle injury which ruled him out of this tournament.

Now SRH will be under severe pressure because their bowlers don’t have that experience to counter the big hitters like Rahul, Mayank and the other KXIP batsmen. In the absence of Bhuvi, this bowling attack of Hyderabad looks weak.

The Indian bowling unit, which is in the squad of the orange army, don’t look lethal. The SRH team has named a replacement for injured Bhuvi. But he is also very young at the IPL level. Prithvi Raj Yarra, the 22-year pace bowler from Andhra Pradesh, has been named as the replacement of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

SRH will have to look for the overseas bowling resources if they want to make to the playoff stage. They also will not have the all-round services of Mitchell Marsh who was injured in their first game. SRH has the options of Billy Stanlake, Jason Holder, Fabien Allen and Mohd Nabi.

But including one of them will make their batting look weak. Hyderabad needs Williamson in the middle order, and Warner as their opener with Rashid Khan is the lead spin bowler. If anyone could go out of their playing XI to take place for a fast bowler, it will be Johnny Bairstow.

Bairstow has performed decently for the Orange Army. But he hasn’t been the consistent performer like he was in the previous seasons. But for the team’s sake, Bairstow has to go out so that SRH can add fast bowling all-rounder like Jason Holder in their playing XI.

The Windies Skipper Holder might be the perfect replacement for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Holder is a fast-bowling all-rounder who can also add depth in their batting.

Wriddhiman Saha is the excellent wicket-keeper batsman who can bat as an opener and replace Bairstow as wicket keeper and opener.

Saha had played a mind bowling knock against Kolkata Knight Riders when he played for the Kings XI Punjab franchise. His century in the IPL 2014 season is the still counted as the best knock played by a wicket-keeper batsman in a losing cause. Saha opened that innings for Punjab and gave a ray of hope for the fans. But it was KKR who won their second title and last title under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir.

SRH should include Saha as their opener for the next game. Warner has been in scratchy form. But he is a person who can take the game away from the opposition in seconds.

Manish Pandey’s form at number is also crucial for Hyderabad to get a good score. He scored a handy half-century against KKR. But after that, his bat has gone in a silent mode. SRH will need their middle order to come good, and so, they will want Pandey to perform in this match.

The inclusion of Williamson has brought a calmness in the middle order of SRH. Williamson missed out of scoring in the last match. But he will make sure that he will be amongst the runs in this match against KXIP.

The Probable Predicted Playing XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad – David Warner, Wriddhiman Saha, Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, Jason Holder, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Siddarth Kaul, T Natarajan, Sandeep Sharma.

The batting of Kings XI Punjab has brilliant. Their openers are in terrific form and the middle order also got some runs in their last match which was played against Chennai Super Kings. But their bowling is the real reason which they lost games against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

Their bowlers started the tournament well when they played Delhi Capitals. Mohd Shami was the one who ripped the top order of DC. But since then Shami has been quiet with the ball.

Rajasthan Royals hammered them in the run chase of 224 runs and their similar performance was repeated against Chennai, where Punjab’s bowlers didn’t get a single wicket in CSK’s innings. Cottrell bowled well against MI, but in that match, the other bowlers struggled to pick up wickets.

They need someone like Mujeeb Ur Rahaman in their bowling up. The Afghan spin bowler will be good in the middle overs with Bishnoi. In the pace bowling department, KXIP can include Ishan Porel.

Mujeeb can come in for Cottrell, and instead of Chris Jordan, Ishan Porel should be into the playing XI of Punjab.

In the batting department, the form of Glenn Maxwell is a worry for them. But the other batters like Pooran, Mandeep Singh along with Rahul and Mayank did well in the game against CSK. Now Punjab should look to replace Maxwell who hasn’t looked in good touch at all.

Gayle should open the innings with KL Rahul in the next match. So that, in-form Mayank Agarwal can bat in the middle order to solve the middle-order batting woes of Kings XI Punjab.

The Probable Predicted Playing XI of Kings XI Punjab – KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Mandeep Singh, Nicholas Pooran, Sarfaraz Khan, Chris Jordan/ Ishan Porel, Harpreet Brar, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell/Mujeeb Ur Rahaman.

The match number 22 will start at 7.30 PM according to the Indian Standard Time at the Star Sports Networks, and the live streaming will also be available on the HOTSTAR mobile applications on Thursday, 8th October 2020.
