The Indian Premier League 2020 is on its second stage, but in all the matches, the excitement is still the same. Kings XI Punjab will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in match number 24th of the IPL 2020.  This encounter will be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Kings XI Punjab are currently on the last spot of the IPL Points Table. Nothing has been going right for the finals of the IPL 2014 season. But for Kolkata Knight Riders, this season has been a mix of wins and losses.

Kolkata Knight Riders have a balanced side when it is compared to Kings XI Punjab. KKR has six to seven bowling options, and they also bat deep.

But Punjab has lots of problems to ponder. If they want to make to the playoff stages, their team will wish to do a miracle, which no one has thought of.

Punjab does not have the best bowling line-up in the tournament, and apart from Rahul, Mayank, and Pooran, no batter has performed for them till now.

It has been a long time since Kings XI Punjab won their first game of the IPL season 2020. The miracle happened only because of KL Rahul’s unbeaten ton, which he played against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

But since then, Punjab has been on the losing side in all the matches. Despite batting well, their bowling has not been up to the mark. Against RR, they allowed the game to slip away from their hands. Things were under control, but Cottrell gave away the momentum which Rajasthan seized in their favour.

Since then, Punjab has gone down due to their bowling. Their performance was really poor against Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Against the two IPL trophy winners team, they failed to pick up wickets at ease.

In the game against SRH, which they lost, Punjab bowlers picked up the first wicket after 36.4 overs and 408 runs. Punjab quickly needs to rethink of including Shami and Cottrell, in their playing XI against KKR.

KKR has a good batting line up. Tripathi, Gill, Rana, Morgan, and Russell can tonk the poor bowlers of KXIP. Even though the ground of Sheikh Zayed Stadium is big, but the KXIP bowlers don’t have that accuracy and length, which will trouble the opposition batsmen.

In the bowling department, Ravi Bhisnoi is a positive Kings XI take from their last match against SRH. The youngster from Rajasthan went for plenty in his first over, but he didn’t let that affect him. He made a strong comeback and got the wickets of two dangerous batsmen in one over.

Bishnoi is the future of Indian Cricket, and under the guidance of Anil Kumble, he can blossom as the world’s best spin bowler of India.

The batting, too, had let them down in the match against SRH. Nicholas Pooran was the only one who had put up a fight. But the rest of the batsmen didn’t even stand with him. Pooran scored the fastest fifty of the IPL 2020 season. Due to his blazing knock, new batsmen had the time to set himself.

But Maxwell didn’t take this opportunity to guide his team close to that mammoth score. The Big Show has been a big disappointment for Punjab in this season. Now it is a time to replace him with an Indian player in that middle order.

Deepak Hooda will be an ideal option for Kings XI Punjab. Hooda is the middle-order batsman who had played for Sunrisers Hyderabad previously. He doesn’t have the experience like Maxwell. But he can do the job for KXIP.

Krishnappa Gowtham also can be considered in that middle order. Gowtham was unlucky to bowl the last over against Pollard and Pandya, the two best hitters of white-ball. It was the mistake done by KL Rahul, but the youngster, Gowtham, had to pay the price for that.

Now KXIP can consider bringing in Gowtham back after he was dropped. Jimmy Neesham is also the one who can be tried as the lower order batsman. Neesham was too expensive in that game against Mumbai Indians.

But including Neesham and Gowtham can give KXIP an extra bowling option, and they can also bat lower down the order. KXIP can also include Ishan Porel in place of Shami and Hardus Viljoen in place of Sheldon Cottrell.

The Probable Predicted Playing XI of Kings XI Punjab – KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Mandeep Singh/Deepak Hooda, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell/James Neesham, Simran Singh/Krishnappa Gowtham, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami/Ishan Porel, Sheldon Cottrell/ Hardus Viljoen.

Kolkata will look to ride on their luck once again after they had a lucky escape against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday night.

The death over bowling was excellently done by their bowlers. It is not easy to restrict hard hitters like Dhoni, Jadeja, and Curran in the last few overs of the innings. But KKR bowlers did a fine job and won that game by just ten runs.

Rahul Tripathi led the batting in that match. The experiment to promote Rahul as an opener worked wonderfully well for the Knight Riders. But promoting Sunil Narine at number four was tricky.

Narine can bat with Tripathi as an opener or bat after Pat Cummins at number eight. He is not a middle-order batsman to take the innings through as Morgan, Rana, and Karthik can do. The spin bowling all-rounders usually bat at number seven or eight.

But the form of Rana and Skipper Karthik is also a worrying factor for KKR. The Knight Riders will want them to come good in the match against Kings XI Punjab.

Although the KXIP team is struggling to win games, KKR cannot take them lightly because one good or bad over can change the game.

Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell missed out in the match against CSK. They were out cheaply, which hampered their scoring rate. But in this match, these two best white ball players should perform to take their team over the line.

The whole team of Kolkata Knight Riders doesn’t need to change for the next game. They have the bowlers who can defend a modest total. Cummins, Nagakoti, Dube, Chakravarthy, and Mavi did well against Super Kings, and they will be want to continue their form in the next match.

The Probable Predicted Playing XI of Kolkata Knight Riders – Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik  Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy.

This match between Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders will be telecasted live on Saturday, 10th October 2020 afternoon at 3.30 PM IST on Star Sports Networks, and live streaming is also available on HOTSTAR mobile application.
