IPL 2020 M29 – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – Preview

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face each other again in the Indian Premier League 2020 season. These two teams have played each other once, and SRH won that encounter.

The Yellow Army and the Orange Army will lock horns at the same venue where they played against each other. Match number 29 between CSK vs SRH will be played at Dubai International in Dubai on Tuesday, 13th October 2020.

Chennai’s recent two defeats have pushed them on the second last spot of the points table while Warner’s men had a fantastic win over Kings XI Punjab. But they lost against Rajasthan Royals in the last over thriller.

Currently, Sunsrisers Hyderabad are in the fifth position with six points, and CSK is in the seventh position with just four points. Now CSK should aim to win this match and get on the level with RR and SRH, who have six points.

CSK – Chennai Super Kings – Team’s Preview

The Yellow Army hasn’t been at their best. Their two wins against Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians were excellent. But against the other opposition teams, their performance has been just a one-sided affair.

This year’s Chennai Super Kings is not the team that we knew. Yes, they are missing players like Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh. But there are many teams with no key players and their performance hasn’t been worse.

Apart from Faf Du Plessis, only Shane Watson has been the man who has scored two half-centuries for CSK this season. Faf has been the highest run-scorer, and he has led the batting like a leader of Chennai.

Rayudu also has one fifty to his name. That half-century came in the opening match of the IPL 2020 is still hailed by many. He soaked the pressure from Faf Du Plessis, who batted at the other end. Rayudu and Faf also shared a vital partnership that ensured a famous win against Mumbai Indians.

But the performance of CSK was down when Ambati Rayudu had an injury issue. He missed three matches. Since his return, CSK has won only one match in which Rayudu hasn’t played any part. Chennai Super Kings registered a ten-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab.

The form of Skipper MS Dhoni is also a concern. Mahi hasn’t been that kind of a player who used to take India and CSK to a thrilling win from nowhere. Now his finishing abilities have vanished. He has been hitting sixes, but those never came when it was required.

Dhoni’s match awareness has been excellent in the previous seasons. He has played some timely shots which had eased off the pressure of the other batsmen.

Till now, nothing has worked for MSD. His fitness was also questioned after we saw him drained in the heat of Dubai.

After he announced his retirement from International Cricket, one may not be surprised if Mahi says goodbye to the Indian premiere League tournament. For CSK, it is not easy to make to the playoff stages. Super Kings need to superb in every match that they play from here on.

Ravindra Jadeja is another player who has scored at one-half century. When CSK and SRH met in Dubai, Jaddu’s maiden half-century took them close to the total. But still, SRH won that encounter by seven runs.

CSK also needs to promote players like DJ Bravo and Sam Curran up the order. Instead of sending someone like Kedar Jadhav or an inexperienced player, Curran or Bravo can at least take CSK close to the total, which has been set by the opposition team.

Both the fast bowling all-rounders are incredible power hitters. It not easy to hit sixes and fours from the first ball one, but the players like Bravo, Curran, or Jadeja can do some damage and get the asking run rate down so players like Dhoni can finish the game in style.

The bowling of CSK is the only positive point. Bravo, Curran, Chachar, Jadeja, Thakur, and Karn Sharma have been doing a decent job. But it’s the batting which has let them down in the games which they have lost.

The Probable Predicted Playing XI of CSK (vs SRH)-

Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, N Jagadeesan, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma.

SRH – Sunrisers Hyderabad – Team’s Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Chennai Super Kings last time when they played the match at the same venue. This motivation is enough for the Orange Army to do well against the three-time IPL champions.

Warner and Bairstow have been in decent form. They just blasted the Kings XI Punjab bowlers all over the park. But the openers need a consistent run to challenge the opposition team like CSK. Against Rajasthan Royals, their batting lacked the firepower, which they showed against Punjab.

That is because they didn’t get a good start in their innings. If SRH gets to a good start, then only they can put pressure on the opposition team. The openers are the ones who should bat out the first six overs without losing any wickets.

If this is done, only then the middle order players like Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson will come good, because the Sunsrisers don’t have the batsmen after that. Even tough Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma bailed out SRH in the last match against CSK.

But still, they are inexperienced in performing like that consistently. The top four have to score runs, and anyone player should bat through the 20 overs. Williamson should be the number three player while Pandey Ji should bat at number four.

Williamson is a class act. He showed his multi-talented batting skills when he guided the SRH innings towards the 201 runs mark against KXIP. Hyderabad lost their way in between when they promoted younger players. But in the end, Williamson played a cameo knock, which helped SRH post a formidable score and win that match.

The bowling line up missed the skills and accuracy of Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the last game against Rajasthan Royals. SRH lost that match in the last few overs where Bhuvi could have shown his magic. But in his absence, their death overs bowling woes in the team.

Sunrisers Hyderabad doesn’t have a death over specialist in their team. Khaleel, Natarajan, Abhishek, Shankar, and Sandeep Sharma don’t have that experience. Adding Siddharth Kaul will give them an extra bowling option and help them sort out the death over bowling woes, which might be the factor in winning and losing.

The Probable and Predicted Playing XI of SRH (vs CSK)

David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan, Siddharth Kaul.

All the IPL matches will be shown on the Star Sports Networks at 7.30 PM IST, and live streaming will be available on HOTSTAR. Match number 29th is scheduled for Tuesday, 13th October 2020.
