Nations League | England 2-1 Belgium: England makes a comeback win over the world’s top ranked team


England came from behind to earn an extraordinary comeback where Mount scored a last moment goal in the 2nd half leading the three lions to a 2-1 victory over the top-ranked team Belgium and earned a place at the top of the table in the Nations League.

Both the teams started the game with a strong line-up with Henderson leading the England team in place of Kane in the Nations League. Maguire and Rashford were back in the team after a long time. Mount and Calvert-Lewin got an opportunity to start against a major team. Belgium squad almost remained the same with key players like Lukaku, De Bruyne and Carrasco making the team stronger. The Hazard brothers missed the game and Castagne was given the opportunity to start in the playing 11.

Both teams started the game with a slow start but Belgium got a breakthrough when Lukaku scored the 1st penalty goal giving the Belgium side a 1-0 lead. Rashford made it 1-1 for England by scoring a powerful penalty goal at the 39th minute.  The score at half-time remained 1-1.

The England team looked slower in the first-half with most of the ball remaining in possession of the Belgium side. The second half began with Mason Mount scoring the 2nd goal of the game where he aimed for a good shot that got deflected by a little touch from Alderweireld and the ball firmly reached the net straight from the top right corner. The match ended with a great 2-1 win as England won against one of the big teams earning a place at the top of the table.
