Match Highlights – KXIP Vs RCB – Match number 31

RCB won the toss and batted first in this game. But their batsmen couldn’t repeat their heroics which they did against Kolkata Knight Riders. Virat was the only one who held the innings after the openers, and the middle order batsmen were dismissed cheaply.

Their decision to demote AB De Villers down at number six batting positions raised many questions regarding their tactical changes. Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube, the inexperienced batters, were promoted ahead of De Villers.

In the end, RCB paid a heavy price for it. Sundar and Dube took many balls to get going, and after their dismissal, ABD and Virat were also dismissed in the same over. It was a late flourish from Chris Morris and Isuru Udana, which propelled RCB to score 171 runs in their 20 overs.

Kings XI was good with the ball, and they continued their dominance over the RCB batsmen. Mohd Shami and Murugan Ashwin took two wickets each while Chris Jordan and Arshdeep Singh picked up one wicket each to their name.

The chase went till the last ball. KXIP again had a brilliant start to their innings. Mayank and Rahul continued their brilliant form. After Agarwal was out for 45 runs, the Universal Boss, Chris Gayle, entertained the TV viewers. Gayle took his time initially as he turned up to bat after a long break of many months.

But once he started his onslaught, the former RCB opener was unstoppable. Rahul and Gayle shared a partnership of 93 runs, which brought KXIP close to a total of 171 runs. But just like the last game, KXIP choked in the last over.

Gayle was forced to take a single, which would have won the match for Punjab. But in trying to do that, Gayle was run out for well made 53 runs. KL Rahul was well set but still didn’t find the gaps. But Nicholas Pooran was the one who finished the game with a six.

Chahal was the only one who picked the wicket of Mayank Agarwal, and the rest of the batters struggled to bowl well. Kings XI Punjab won their second match of IPL 2020 by eight wickets.
