IPL 2020 : M36 Mumbai Indians Vs Kings XI Punjab- Preview

The Sunday feast in IPL 2020 season continues as Mumbai Indians; the defending champions will take on Kings XI Punjab in match number 36, which will be played on Sunday, 18th October 2020, in Dubai International Stadium.

MI and KXIP both are coming from excellent wins under their belt. The defending champs, MI, had defeated Kolkata Knight Riders. While KXIP won the game against RCB, that win against Bangalore was just the second win for Punjab this season.

Mumbai Indians sit on top of the table with six wins and just two losses so far in the IPL 2020. But Punjab is at the bottom with only four points, which they earned after both the victories had come against RCB in this season.

Mumbai Indians is the team to beat in every season of the Indian Premier League. The MI team is the most successful side in the cash-rich league tournament history. The Blues have won the four titles, which is the most till now.

MI has been a balanced side in the IPL 2020 season despite Malinga’s absence in their bowling department. Rohit and his men perform in such a professional way as they have made up their minds to defend their IPL crown this season.

The batting, bowling, and even the fielding looks incredible. The catch which Suryakumar Yadav held in their match against KKR was so spectacular that one would watch it repeatedly. MI is a successful team in IPL because of rigorous efforts put by the players like Rohit, De Kock, Pollard, Bumrah, Boult, Pandya Brothers, and everyone.

When KXIP faced MI in their first league match, it was an outstanding inning from Rohit Sharma, which allowed the Blues to stay in the game. Then it was a great power-hitting done from Pollard and Hardik, which took them to a mammoth score.

MI will rely on their top five to deliver in this game as well. Rohit, De Kock, Suryakumar, Ishan Kishen, Pollard, and Pandya Brothers will be the ones who have the responsibility of guiding the inning.

Mumbai is a team that quality batters and power hitters in their playing XI, and many batsmen turn as the power hitters according to the situations. This is the best quality in the team, and that’s why it is quite difficult to beat them.

The bowling also comes to the party. Bumrah, Boult, and Pattinson have done well for them with the spin twins of Chachar and Krunal, who have been useful as well.

The Probable Predicted Playing XI of Mumbai Indians –  Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah.

KXIP’s only win in the tournament has come against Royal Challengers Bangalore. They have defeated Kohli’s army on two occasions, but against the other strong teams, Rahul and Co. have struggled even to match up in that contest.

The team which KXIP played in their match against RCB looked a settled one. But still, they should have included Mujeeb Ur Rahman in place of Glenn Maxwell. Mujeeb can bowl in the powerplay overs, and he will be useful in the death overs.

Chris Gayle was finally in the playing XI of KXIP. The Universal Boss was sitting out for a long time than he expected. But he was back with a bang. His batting will add more depth to the KXIP’s batting lineup.

Gayle batted at number three in the last game, which was a good idea because it does not disturb Mayank and Rahul’s opening pair, who have been successful in this tournament so far.

Rahul is the leading run-scorer for KXIP, and he also holds the Orange Cap of the IPL 2020 season. Mayank has been in good form along with Nicholas Pooran. The top four of KXIP is a settled one, but their concern is their middle order.

Their batting looks weak after Pooran, Maxwell hasn’t been in good form, and the players like Deepak Hooda and Chris Jordan haven’t had opportunities to bat.

Still, KXIP should drop Maxi and they should pick up a bowler like Mujeeb, or they can go with Hardus Viljoen, the fast bowler from South Africa.

Hardus will help Shami, Jordan, and Arshdeep Singh restrict a powerful side like Mumbai Indians to a decent score. His addition to the playing XI will also add depth to their bowling.

The Probable Predicted Playing XI of Kings XI Punjab – Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, Chris Jordan, Murugan Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh.

Star Sports Networks will broadcast the 36th match, between MI and KXIP and live streaming will also be available on HOTSTAR mobile application on Sunday, 18th October 2020, at 7.30 PM IST, 2.00 PM GMT and 6.00 PM Local.
