IPL 2020 – Dwayne Bravo ruled out of IPL 2020 for CSK

The Yellow Army has many concerns with their batting, bowling, and fielding, so they are placed at the bottom of the IPL points table with just six points. CSK has only three wins from ten matches in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. The three-time champions are already without their two prominent stars in this year’s tournament, and with that, Dhoni and his men have received another major blow ahead of their last four games in the league stage concerning their superstar Bravo.

Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the IPL 2020 season due to a groin injury. Bravo sustained this groin injury in the match, played against Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings ended up on a losing side. CSK lost that encounter by five wickets. CSK’s CEO, Kashi Vishwanathan, has confirmed the news on Bravo’s groin injury. He even said that the Windies all-rounder would fly out of the United Arab Emirates tomorrow. Vishwanathan also pinned out that the team management has not decided about the replacement for DJ Bravo yet.

Bravo had bowled three overs, but he couldn’t complete his quota of four because he had picked up the injury by then, and that’s why CSK had to use Ravindra Jadeja. Jaddu bowled the last over and the left-arm spin bowler gave away three sixes when DC needed 17 runs in the final over.

The Yellow Army had started the IPL 2020 campaign with a win, but they have been in self-destruction mode mainly because of the batsmen who have failed to perform. Their preparations were also hampered because Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chachar were tested positive for COVID 19. With that, their star batsman Suresh Raina also backed away from participating in IPL 2020 season.

Bravo also missed few initial matches as he suffered a knee injury during the Caribbean Premier League. He participated later in the tournament when CSK had lost three games on the trot. Bravo was included to change the fortunes of CSK. But even his inclusion could not prevent Chennai from losing.

In this IPL 2020 season, Bravo had played six matches, and he has picked up six wickets with an average of 30 and an economy rate of 8.57. He also got two opportunities to bat in the lower order. But he managed to score just seven runs from those two games.

Bravo had also missed the match against Rajasthan Royals, which CSK lost by seven wickets. In the absence of DJ Bravo, the Aussie pace bowler Josh Hazlewood was included in the playing XI. But CSK lost that match, and they had registered their seventh defeat in this season.

Now CSK will not have any more Bravo Nights. They should think of including the ace spinner from South Africa. Imran Tahir has been waiting for an opportunity to shine for the yellow team. With that, CSK management can also think of Lungi Nigidi and Mitchell Santner as the other options to replace DJ Bravo.

Chennai Super Kings will play their next game against Mumbai Indians. This match will be played on Friday, 23rd October 2020, at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. This encounter will be the 41st match of the IPL 2020 season, which will be telecasted live on Star Sports Networks at 7.30 PM according to the Indian Standard Time.
