In an all Aussie captained encounter between SRH and RR, the Orange Army emerged victoriously. The match was held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. SRH pulled the win easily without any jitters against RR. The win can be attributed to the excellent batting performances by Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar. Let us analyze both the innings.

The First Innings:

RR was the team to bat first with the pair of Uthappa and Stokes opening the innings. They had a fantastic start to the innings. But their good run faced an obstacle when Uthappa got run-out in the 4th over. Stokes looked like a shadow of his former self. Having been known for big-hitting, Stokes was just scoring at close to a run a ball. He and Samson enjoyed a good partnership of more than 50 runs.

Samson scored 30 +, which must have come as a respite for him after a series of poor performances across previous matches. Samson was dismissed by Jason Holder. Soon after Samson got out, Stokes was dismissed before the scoreboard ticked. The pair of Smith and Buttler which was impactful in the last match failed to impress today.

The currently in form Riyan Parag contributed well with a cameo of 20 in 12 deliveries. Tewatia came in late and did not get a lot of time with the bat. The star bowler for SRH today was Jason Holder. He bowled at an economy of 8.2 but took the crucial wickets of Smith, Samson, and Riyan Parag. Rasheed Khan and Shankar were also excellent with the ball.

The Second Innings:

The long-established pair of Warner and Bairstow opened for SRH. Williamson was ruled out of the squad on account of an injury that he faced in one of the previous games. But the experienced opening pair was unable to perform well today. Warner got out in the first over itself off a Jofra Archer delivery.

Archer got rid of Bairstow as well in the 3rd over of the innings. But that was all in terms of wickets that the RR bowlers could get today. The pair of Pandey and Vijay Shankar saw SRH through. Vijay Shankar scored a half-century run a ball. He’s played the role of an anchor to the innings while Pandey took over the opposition with aggression.

Manish Pandey was on a roll. He hit 8 sixes and 4 fours in his quick innings of 83. His strike rate was 176.6 in today’s game. For this stellar performance, Pandey has been adjudged the man of the match. Vijay Shankar gave a good all-round performance today. On RR part, it was Jofra Archer who really bowled well when others were getting hit all over the ground but SRH got the win.

SRH is now placed 5th in the table just above KXIP just because of higher NRR. They are just 2 points shy of KKR. RR on the other is 7th in the table. They have the same points as KXIP and SRH, but they need to improve their NRR which can only be done by winning matches with a huge margin. All these teams are still pretty much in the race for the Play-Offs. Only time will tell, who makes it. Till then stay tuned!
