Mumbai Indians took a giant leap in defending their title. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, the blues are still in the playoff race of IPL 2020 season. MI with a five-wicket win over RCB yesterday courtesy of a blinder by Suryakumar Yadav meant that they have kept their playoff push on the right track.

Pollard has again won the toss for MI, and this time he opted to ball first in this match & RCB started well in their innings, their new opening combination of Devdutt Padikkal and Josh Philippe.

Philippe got a good start in this innings after he failed in the middle order previously. Padikkal and Philippe got the right start for RCB, which could have set them to a challenging score. But the wicket of Josh Philippe triggered a collapse from which Virat’s army couldn’t recover.

De Kock stumped Philippe off Rahul Chahar’s bowling, and his wicket was also the end of the excellent opening stand of 71 runs. The openers had made full of the powerplay overs to good effect.

But RCB lost that momentum in the middle overs as Kohli and AB DE Villiers was out in the back-to-back overs. Jasprit Bumrah took his 100th wicket in-form of India’s skipper Virat Kohli, and the Windies Skipper took the wicket of ABD.

Padikkal tried to fight an alone battle. But he also couldn’t do much after the two stalwarts of RCB were dismissed for just 9 and 15 runs respectively. RCB were pushed entirely out of the game by MI bowlers.

After the wickets of Kohli, ABD and Padikkal, the all-rounders like Shivam Dube and Chris Morris were also dismissed for two and four runs respectively. RCB managed just 164 runs on the board. They reached this score mainly because of their openers Paddikal and Philippe, who gave them a great start.

MI was under pressure in the powerplay overs. But it was Bumrah’s impressive spell which brought them back in the contest, and Rahul Chahar was the other one who started the procession of the wicket for Mumbai with the wicket of Philippe.

Virat will expect the same form from Bumrah when India travels to Australia from Friday, 27th November 2020. Bumrah bagged three wickets to his name and with Boom Boom, Boult, Chahar and Pollard also picked up one wicket each to their name.

The run chase looked tough once again for the defending champions. De Kock and Kishan started the chase decently with 37 runs stand.

But RCB comeback well with a timely scalp of the South African wicketkeeper, De Kock. Mohd Siraj picked up his wicket for 18 runs.

SKY – Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan helped MI to go past the fifty run mark. But Kishen couldn’t play out the Chahal as he went for a big heave and Chris Morris caught him for 25 runs.

Later, Siraj and Chahal again comeback well to dismiss Saurabh Tiwari and Krunal Pandya. Tiwari just managed five runs while Krunal was out for just ten runs. Hardik Pandya came in to support SKY. Hardik played some lovely shots which eased off the pressure from Suryakumar.

Hardik helped MI and took the game very deep. But Hardik couldn’t finish off the game in style. He shared a much-needed stand which helped Mumbai to go past the total. Chris Morris dismissed Hardik for 17 runs.

In the end, it was Suryakumar Yadav who finished the game in style. SKY was unbeaten on 79 runs. This knock was the best knock played by him, and many criticized BCCI for not selecting him for the T20 International series against Australia after many saw this brilliant knock of Suryakumar.

SKY played a responsible innings with great maturity. He held the innings together when the wickets were falling. He hit ten boundaries and three sixes in this innings. Due to his masterful knock, Mumbai Indians won the match by five-wickets, and they are in the race for qualifying in the playoff stage.

The RCB bowlers tried hard, but the target was too small to defend. They started well with the bat. But they couldn’t end well with the ball as well. Chris Morris took one wicket to his name while Chahal and Siraj bagged two wickets each to their names.

The next Game will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders Vs Chennai Super Kings, Today at 7.30 PM IST at Dubai International Stadium.
