UEFA Champions League – Match Day 2 Wednesday Review


We saw some great results in Tuesday’s fixtures where we experienced some amazing scenes out there that were a total delight to watch out for. Some teams who were unable to perform in their 1st match with the start of the Champions League outclassed their talent by winning the 2nd game by putting extra efforts. We experienced some exciting level of performances in Wednesday’s matches with some of the good teams in form weighing up against each other with a hunger to win and secure a place at the top of the table and a special hat-trick from Dr. Marcus Rashford MBE.

Let’s have a look at some of the best matches from Wednesday night’s fixtures:

1# Juventus vs. Barcelona

This was one of the best matches of Wednesday night as 2 of the top teams were facing each other. Morata started the attack as usual in the absence of Ronaldo with Dybala making a start in the main 11. Barcelona started with Griezmann leading the attack.

Barcelona earned an early lead as Dembele scored at the 14th minute and the score at half-time remained 0-1. The game looked more in Barca’s favor as they were maintaining maximum possession. Messi made it 0-2 in the end minutes of extra time by scoring a penalty and the match ended 0-2 as Barcelona earned their 2nd win.

2# Manchester United vs. RB Leipzig

Manchester United earned a massive victory against Leipzig with a score of 5-0 as Rashford scored a hat-trick entering the game as a super sub. Rashford and Bruno were on the bench with Van de Beek and Greenwood included in the main 11. The teenage winger Greenwood opened the score at the 21st minute of the game providing United a lead by 1-0 at half-time.

The whole momentum of the game changed in the 2nd half after Rashford entered the field. He scored the 2nd goal of the match in the 74th minute. There was actually no stopping for him and he smashed yet another goal at the 78th minute, just 4 minutes after scoring the 1st goal. United was 3-0 ahead already. Martial converted the penalty into a goal providing United a 4-0 lead at the 87th minute just adding more goals to the scoreline. Rashford completed his hat-trick by scoring in the end minutes of extra time as United won by 5-0 at full time. Rashford carrying out the magic once again and gifting United a victory for the 2nd time in UCL this season.

3# Dortmund vs. Zenit

Dortmund earned their 1st victory of UCL this season by beating Zenit by 2-0. They earned a winner this week after facing a defeat in their 1st game against Lazio. Reus was back in the squad for Dortmund with Hazard included on the bench. Dortmund was trying to open up attacking options from the very start of the game.

The match remained goalless at the end of half-time and one of the teams had to open up the score line in the 2nd half. Dortmund earned their breakthrough as they earned a penalty and it was converted to a goal by Sancho and Dortmund was leading by 1-0. Haaland scored in the last minutes of the game making the score 2-0 at full-time. They still remain at 3rd place of the table and will have to win more games to secure the top spot.

These were some of the best games from Wednesday night UCL football and the Match Week 2 of the Champions League ended with the same level of excitement and fun.
