The Kings XI didn’t start well. The Mandeep and Rahul duo got a big setback when Mandeep Singh was out for a golden duck. The two players from England brought an early breakthrough for the double R’s.

Jofra Archer was the bowler who picked up the first wicket of Mandeep, but this wicket wasn’t have been possible if their star all-rounder, Ben Stokes wouldn’t have dived to take that spectacular catch and due to RR started the innings well with the ball while KXIP struggled.

Then it was a healthy partnership from Skipper KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, which took KXIP through the innings nicely. Rahul and Gayle shared a partnership of 120 runs while RR struggled for a breakthrough.

Gayle broke an unimaginable record in this innings. The Universal Boss becomes the first and only player to smash 1000 sixes in T20 International cricket. Gayle has scored 10 thousand runs already to his name in the shortest format, and he is the only one to achieve this feat.

At last, Rajasthan’s bowlers got the big wicket of KL Rahul. The KXIP skipper continued his classy form, and he is the only player to smash 600 runs in this IPL season. Rahul was dismissed on 46 runs, just four runs short of his another half-century in the tournament.

Due to Rahul’s wicket, RR had a mini-comeback into the match as they could restrict KXIP under the score of 190 runs. Nicholas Pooran played another smashing inning. He didn’t hit any fours, but he smashed three sixes to his name.

Pooran’s cameo gave KXIP a little bit of a lift, but KXIP needed more than that. Pooran was out for 22 runs, which he smashed from just ten deliveries. Then, in the last over, Chris Gayle missed his 23rd century by a margin of only one run. Archer ended the Gayle Storm on 99 runs.

In the end, Kings XI Punjab scored a challenging score of 185 runs for the loss of four wickets from their allotted 20 overs. Glenn Maxwell and Deepak Hooda were the unbeaten batsmen on six runs and one run respectively.

Jofra Archer again showed his class at the start and in the death overs. Archer picked up two wickets to his name. He started the innings with the wicket of Mandeep Singh, and he ended the innings with the wicket of Chris Gayle.

Ben Stokes was another bowler who picked up two wickets to his name. Apart from these two England bowlers, none of the Indian bowlers were successful in picking up a wicket to their names in this match.

The run chase might have been a high pressure one for the Double R’s, but the opening partnership between Robbin Uthappa and Ben Stokes set the tone for RR.

The openers were also successful in laying a solid foundation to which helped the Royals in winning this contest. Stokes and Uthappa shared a quick sixty run stand for RR. They took their chances in the fielding restriction powerplay overs and pushed the bowlers of Kings Punjab out of this contest. The opening stand of sixty runs came in just 5.3 overs.

Stokes continued his brilliance in this match. After an unbeaten match-winning hundred against Mumbai Indians, Stokes again helped Rajasthan in the run chase. He scored a quickfire 50 runs from just 26 balls.

After Stokes was dismissed, Rajasthan Royals continued marching on nicely. Uthappa and Samson built a partnership of 51 runs. This stand was also an important one for the Double Rs, which helped them be in the game. Robin played well for his 48 runs, and this may have been the best knock that he has played for Rajasthan Royals in this IPL 2020 season. But he could not carry the innings along nicely as he tried to continue his onslaught, but Murugan Ashwin dismissed him.

After the fall of Uthappa, KXIP struck once again after with the run out of Sanju Samson. It was a terrible mix up between Skipper Smith and Samson, which led to the dismissal of man in-form Sanju Samson. The keeper-batsman was out after he scored 48 runs.

The game was finished by the two experienced campaigners of the Rajasthan Royals team. KXIP thought that they might sneak in after the fall of Sanju Samson, but Skipper Smith and Jos Buttler’s unbeaten cameos helped RR to register their second win against Kings XI Punjab.

Skipper Steve Smith was unbeaten on 31 runs while Jos Buttler played a finisher’s role to perfection. Buttle scored an unbeaten 22 runs from just eleven deliveries, that innings included only one four, but he smashed two maximums sixes.

RR ended KXIP’s five-match winning streak in style by eight wickets, and Steve Smith and his boys are still alive in the IPL 2020. With this win, RR can even make it to the playoffs stage.

Kings XI Punjab bowlers were no good on the day. They defended a modest score against Sunrisers Hyderabad with ease. But against RR, they lacked the firepower. Chris Jordan and Murugan Ashwin were the only bowlers who picked up one wicket each to their names.

The star all-rounder Ben Stokes won the man of the match award for his brilliant show. Stokesy picked up two wickets with the ball, and his cameo of 50 runs was equally crucial for Rajasthan to win this encounter.

The next two games today will be played between Delhi Capitals Vs Mumbai Indians in Dubai at 3.30 PM IST and Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in Sharjah Cricket Stadium at 7.30 PM IST.
