The T20 format has been a fast-paced, thrilling format. In this, the fielders take some mind-blowing catches, and they also save boundaries by sliding on the ground that makes cricket matches more interesting to watch.

During the IPL 2020 season, too, there have been fielders who have taken excellent catches in the league’s stages. Catches win matches is a true saying in cricket because one catch can turn the match around its head, and if the fielder drops that catch, then the whole team pays a heavy price for it.

In today’s article, we shall let our viewers know about those fielders who have taken some mind-blowing catches in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. With just four matches go in the IPL 2020 season, these catches will stay forever in our minds and hearts.

  • Faf Du Plessis – In the opening match of the IPL 2020, the defending champions and the runner ups of the IPL 2019 season had a face-off at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. In that game, MI had an excellent quick start to their innings, that had put pressure on the CSK bowlers. The MI batsmen continued to apply pressure on CSK as Hardik Pandya, and Saurabh Tiwari batted well in the middle overs to keep MI in the game. But two catches from the South African former skipper, Faf Du Plessis, brought CSK back in the contest. Hardik Pandya had already hit two sixes in one over of Ravindra Jadeja. When Hardik tried to hit one more in the same over, Faf brilliantly caught the MI all-rounder on the boundary line. Later in the same over, Saurabh Tiwari was dismissed by Jaddu, and he was caught again by Du Plessis. Tiwari tried to clear the ropes, but he was unsuccessful because Faf took another neat catch near the boundary. Faf played a crucial role in that match with the bat, and CSK won their opening encounter against MI by five wickets.

  • Sanju Samson – Despite being a wicket-keeper, Sanju Samson took a brilliant catch as a fielder during the match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. The keeper-batsman dismissed KKR’s Pat Cummins by taking a beauty. He went back, and took a running catch, in the process, he landed on his head, which hit the ground. Samson’s judgment was incredible because, in that stadium, it’s difficult to judge a catch because it is surrounded by lights in the stadium. Even the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar praised Sanju Samson for his brilliant catch. Tendulkar said that Samson’s catch reminded him of the catch, which he took at the world cup in 1992.

  • Kamlesh Nagarkoti – The pace bowler did a decent job for Kolkata Knight Rider this season. He has impressed one and all with his pace bowling in the IPL 2020 season. Nagarkoti is an excellent fielder. He took a full-length diving catch to dismiss RR’s Jofra Archer. He ran from the long-on position and dived to complete that catch. Due to Nagarkoti’s all-around performance, Kolkata Knight Riders won that match. Nagarkoti also picked up two wickets and scored unbeaten eight runs from just five deliveries.

  • MS Dhoni – CSK had an awful season, but this effort from their captain will make the fans of the Yellow Army proud. In the match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, DC’s captain Shreyas Iyer edged the ball, but the veteran keeper MS Dhoni completed that catch with a full-length dive with both hands. The catch described that Mahi is still the best behind the stumps, and he can do no wrong. The catch was also the only positive thing that made CSK happy. Otherwise, it was DC’s superb performance, which made them win in both the match against CSK in the league stages.

  • Glenn Maxwell – The Aussie all-rounder didn’t have a great show with the bat in IPL 2020. Kings XI Punjab wanted Maxi to repeat the heroics of IPL 2014 when the matches were played in the United Arab Emirates. But this time, Big Show had no show. Still, he made his name as a brilliant fielder, and that’s why he features last in this list. In the match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma was dismissed due to a great catch, which was taken by Glenn Maxwell on the boundary ropes. It was the 17th over of the match, which was bowled by Mohd Shami. Hit Man tried to muscle the ball down the ground of a full-length delivery. But Rohit failed to clear the ropes as Maxi came down, running from the long on position. Maxwell fumbled at the beginning, but eventually, he hung on to the catch. Then he realized that he might cross the boundary ropes. He passed the ball to his partner, The Kiwi, all-rounder James Neesham. Then Neesham was the one who completed the catch, which helped KXIP to dismiss Rohit Sharma.
