IPL 2020: SRH win the eliminator against RCB

Virat’s RCB lost their fifth back to back games in the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League. They lost twice against Sunrisers Hyderabad in three games, and their loss against the orange army in the eliminator has put RCB out of this year’s IPL 2020 season.

SRH had to make a forced change. They dropped Wriddhiman Saha because he was injured, and Shreevats Goswami was the one who replaced him. While RCB had made three changes in their squad, they had brought Aaron Finch, Adam Zampa, and Moen Ali in their playing XI.

Virat Kohli was the one who opened the innings for RCB in the match after SRH’s Warner won his 11th toss in the IPL 2020. Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are the only other captains who have won the most toss in the IPL seasons of 2017 and 2018, respectively, and both of them ended up winning those two IPL seasons for their franchise.

RCB’s new opening pair of Padikkal and Kohli didn’t last long as Jason Holder did the early damage and picked up the Indian and RCB Skipper Virat Kohli in the first over with just seven runs on the board. Kohli was out caught behind for only six runs.

RCB had a poor start to their innings in a must-win game. Devdutt Padikkal hung around for some time after the skipper was dismissed. But Holder again gave RCB another big blow when he picked up the wicket of man in- form Devdutt Padikkal for just a single run.

ABD and Aaron Finch then shared a mini partnership that took the Bengaluru team towards the fifty run mark. Finch got himself to a good start, and he was the second batsman after De Villiers to score more than thirty runs. But he didn’t use this opportunity to guide the RCB innings. The Aussie skipper was out on 32 runs.

AB De Villiers was the only batter who scored a well-compiled half-century. ABD is the backbone of RCB. He showed his class by playing a gusty knock of 56 runs. ABD tried to hold the RCB innings together without any support as Virat’s team lost wickets at regular intervals.

After Finch, it was Moeen Ali, who was run out on the free hit. Shivam Dube continued his poor form with the bat while Washington Sundar and AB De Villiers were dismissed in the same over after RCB crossed the hundred run mark.

The RCB’s innings never got going due to a class bowling performance from the orange army, which helped SRH to restrict Virat and his team on a modest score. Bangalore managed to score just 131 runs from their allotted 20 overs.

The Windies Skipper Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers for SRH. He was the one who got the big of Virat Kohli in the first over, which derailed the innings of RCB. Holder picked up three wickets to his name while T Natarajan picked up two wickets, and Shabaz Nadeem picked up one wicket to his name.

The run chase was not an easy one for Warner and Co. They also lost wickets at regular intervals. But the calmness of Williamson and Holder gave SRH a fantastic win over RCB. SRH also started poorly in this match. Shreevasts Goswami was out for a duck to Siraj’s bowling. Then there was a mini partnership between Warner and Pandey, which kept things going for SRH.

But RCB bowlers struck again, and they dismissed the SRH skipper for 17 runs, and Pandey also out in the space of three overs for 24 runs.
Yuzvendra Chahal picked up the wicket of Priyam Garg for just seven runs, which put immense pressure on SRH. But the calm heads of Kane Williamson and Jason Holder steadied the ship with an unbeaten partnership that got them to the qualifying round of IPL 2020.

SRH was reeling at 67 for the loss of four wickets when Williamson again provided the steadiness to the innings with Jason Holder. They shared a partnership of 65 runs, which helped them chase down this modest score with six wickets and two balls to spare.

Kane Williamson was unbeaten on 24 runs, and Jason Holder was not out on ten runs. These two batsmen helped SRH to get through in this run chase. Now the orange army will face DC in qualifier two on Sunday 8th November 2020 in Abu Dhabi at 7.30 PM IST.

Kane Williamson was awarded the player match award for his excellent batsmanship. It was his innings of unbeaten 50 runs, which guided SRH to a win.
