In 2018, when India toured Australia for full-fleshed series, the men in blue won by a 2-1 margin.

But both the teams were different then. India had Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, and Dinesh Kartik in the limited-overs competition Down Under, and Australia was without their three main pillars of their batting department.

In the absence of Steve Smith, David Warner, and Marnus Labuschagne, the Aussies were like fish without water. Now, these three are back in the side, and the Australian team will present a more formidable challenge for Virat and Co.

Team India Preview

The absence of Rohit Sharma will hurt India. In his absence, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul are the opening batsmen who will open throughout the limited-overs series.

But India intends to play Rahul as the middle-order batsman in 50 overs cricket. Rahul has been successful in that as well. But in the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL should open for India on the whole tour of Australia because he brings more sodality as the opening batsmen.

KL and Dhawan are coming from a great IPL 2020 season. Rahul was the highest run-scorer with 670 runs, while Dhawan scored the second-highest number of runs in the whole season.

Dhawan also scored two back to back centuries in IPL 2020, and he was the only Indian player to achieve this feat.

India will want Rahul and Dhawan to come good against Australia as well. The men in blue will not want to try other openers like Agarwal and Shaw at Rahul’s place. Both Shaw and Agarwal are inexperienced openers. India went with them in New Zealand, but they weren’t highly successful in that ODI series, which India lost by a 3-0 margin.

Captain Virat Kohli will be the key in India’s middle-order with Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey. Manish Pandey has the experience, and he can be trusted as the future finisher that India is looking after the retirement of MS Dhoni.

India has a quality all-rounder like Ravindra Jadeja. Jaddu can also help the team to provide that finishing kick. Hardik Pandya is also an all-rounder, but he didn’t bowl a single over in the recent IPL 2020.

Instead of picking Pandya as a pure batsman, Shardul Thakur can be the batsman who can provide some lusty blows towards the end, and with that, his ten overs will be as vital as they are from Bumrah, Shami, and Saini.

Shardul can play as the lower order batsman and the fourth seamer in India’s playing XI. But, can Chahal and Kuldeep feature in the same eleven? That question will rise again as both the spin bowlers have been included in India’s squad.

India’s Probable Predicted Playing XI – Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, Mohd Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Australia Team Preview

Australia will have the upper hand in the ODI series against India. This might be because they have a settled line up in the ODI format. Their recent series win on England’s soil will give them a lot of confidence ahead of this series.

The form of Marcus Stoinis, which he had shown in the IPL 2020 tournament, has put Australia right in the hot seat of this contest. Stoinis has delivered as the pure all-rounder for Delhi Capitals, who ended up as the finalist of that cash-rich league tournament.

The hosts will want Stoinis to continue with that same form in the series against India. The Aussies have a set batting order in the limited over series against the men in blue. Warner and Finch are the world-class openers in the playing XI.

Steve Smith will be followed at the number three position, with Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey, and Marcus Stoinis in their batting department. Maxwell didn’t show his class for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2020 season.

But when he returns to the baggy green jersey, The Big Show is expected to be useful in that middle order. He also scored a century, which helped Australia to clinch the ODI series in England. Carey is another essential member of that Aussie squad.

Alex Carey has made a good name in the Australian batting lineup. He can be dangerous in providing some lusty blows towards the latter part of the innings. He can be the player to watch out for in the upcoming One Day series.

After Carey, it is the bowlers who follow. Australia has great bowlers like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood in their playing XI. These three bowlers are enough to push any opposition team out of the contest.

But they have quality spinners like Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar in their squad.

The key battle between Kohli vs Zampa Vs Starc and Cummins will make this whole series a mouth-watering match to watch.

Australia’s Probable Predicted Playing XI

David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Adam Zampa.

Prediction – Australia favorites to win the 1st ODI and go 1-0 ahead in the three-match series.

The match will be broadcasted on Sony Six Networks, and the live streaming will be brought on the Sony Liv app. The match timings are – 9:10 AM IST, 03:40 AM GMT, and 02:40 PM LOCAL.
