ISL 2020-21: Round 4 Review

#1. Chennaiyin FC 0 – 1 Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC clinched important three points from The Southern Derby in a close encounter. Chennaiyin tried to tighten the game throughout 90 minutes but one foul in the penalty box costed them all. The referee awarded a penalty to BFC in consequence of Edwin Sydney Vanspaul’s foul on BFC forward Cleiton Silva. Hence captain Sunil Chhetri’s cooler than ice finish from the penalty spot edged down Machans. Chennaiyin yet to score a goal in The Southern Derby even after 180 minutes with two different oppositions.

#2. NorthEast United 2 – 0 East Bengal

An own goal from East Bengal player Surchandra with bit efforts from Idrissa Sylla gave Highlanders early lead. NorthEast coach Gerard Nus decided to sit back and defend the lead in the second half. Then it was done and dusted for East Bengal when super-sub Rochharzela scored an injury-time goal through counter-attack. Captain Benjamin Lambot stepped up as the sole leader of the defense in absence of Fox and earned the hero of the match award. Now Robbie Fowler along with Red and Gold Brigade have to wait for another game to enjoy debut ISL goal and match points.

#3. Mumbai City 2 – 0 Odisha FC

Sergio Lobera’s boys got a major boost in confidence from the last fixture and continued to deliver it. Islanders are emerging as established forces to challenge for the ISL title. They dominated Odisha FC in each and every aspect of the game. Shubham Sarangi’s handball gave a penalty to Mumbai in the first half which was converted by Bartholomew Ogbeche. Later on Mumbai midfielder Rowlinn Borges doubled the lead with an assist from Bipin Singh in the last minute of the first half.

#4. FC Goa 3 – 1 Kerala Blasters

Both clubs stepped out of tunnels with aim of registering the first win of the season. Gaurs looked completely different than the way they played in the first three games of the season. Igor Angulo and Jorge Ortiz were scorers from the Goa side. While Blasters midfielder Vicente Gomez was the sole featured player from tuskers on the scoresheet. Goan goal machine Igor Angulo registered the second brace of the season, he did it against Bengaluru earlier.

#5. Jamshedpur FC 2 – 1 ATK Mohun Bagan

ATK Mohun Bagan was unblemished side on the points table before this encounter but Owen Coyle’s Jamshedpur had a different intention. Antonio Lopez Habas’s defense was in-form and remained imperious till then. They conceded the first goal of the season after a corner-kick header from Super V-alskis. Valskis went on to score another goal for Jamshedpur FC once again from a corner-kick. Star striker Roy Krishna pulled one goal back in the 80th minute and also created a streak of scoring a goal in every game of the season.

His clinical attacking performance remained the highlight of the week. Thus he became the first player to get perfect 10 out of 10 ratings this season. Super V-alskis became the first player to score past the impervious defense of ATK Mohun Bagan this week. He is currently the joint top scorer of the season along with Igor Angulo with five goals from four matches.
