IND vs AUS 2020: Rohit Sharma clears fitness test, set to join Team India in Australia.

Rohit Sharma clears fitness test, set to fly to Australia soon:

A clear statement finally from BCCI has been released with regards to Rohit Sharma availability. Rohit had suffered a hamstring strain during the second half of IPL 2020 was under rehabilitation and training process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru since 19th November.

On 12th December, BCCI said NCA Team was satisfied with the physical fitness of the 33-year old after assessing him on different metrics. He thus is now making his way down under to join the rest of the Indian Squad.

Will Rohit Sharma still be able to play in IND vs AUS 2020:

Due to COVID-19 protocols still in place, Sharma has to follow the 2-week quarantine in Australia. Once the quarantine period is over, the Indian Cricket Team’s medical staff shall reassess his fitness status. Based on which a call on his participation in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be taken.

As the 1st test between the 2 teams is set to commence from 17th December and the 2nd one from 26th December. It is highly unlikely that Rohit will feature in those 2 tests as they are to fall under his quarantine period. Rohit Sharma may be included in the playing 11 from the 3rd test. He is in contention with the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Mayank Agarwal for the opening slot.
