Australian Open 2021 – Day 2: Nadal, Barty and Medvedev cruise ahed while Sumit Nagal Crashes Out

The Australian Open Day 2 ended with major tennis player’s victory including Barty, Nadal, and Medvedev. Whereas, Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal has crashed out of the Australian Open.

RAFAEL NADAL OVERCOMES LASLO DJERE

Rafael Nadal, currently world number 2 has defeated Serbian Laslo Djere 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 and proceeding to the 2nd round of the Australian Open.  Initially, it was quite tough for Nadal to break the service post that he managed with a swift change in serve.

“I’m happy to be through to the second round. I think I did a good job today,” Nadal said in his on-court interview. “Straight sets, that’s what I needed.”

Rafael said post-match. The lefty Rafael will play against American qualifier Michael Mmoh in the second round.

 

POPYRIN WINS FIVE-SET GOFFIN EPIC

Plus it’s been a big day for the locals, with Alexei Popyrin claiming a five-set epic upset over 13th seed David Goffin, after saving four match points in the fourth set.

Current world No.113 Alexei Popyrin has crated major upset and claimed victory over world number 13 David Goffin. Alexei has won a tie break from set 3, showing his power on the court.

He began his bid to replicate his incredible 2020 third-round run at this event in perfect style, with the youngster winning a five-set epic against the 2017 quarterfinalist and world No.15 David Goffin.

 

DEMON BITES WHINGEING AMERICAN

The home rising player currently 21st seed Alex de Minaur from Australia. He was drawn into a first-round matchup against American Tennys Sandgren but it wasn’t for long as a quick comeback from Alex in the 2nd set finally ended with de Minaur’s victory of 7-5, 6-1, 6-1.

Alex has shown his skills and courage to defeat Sandgren, who is a quarter-finalist at the 2020 Australian Open.

 

ASH BARTY FROM AUSTRALIA BEATS DANKA KOVINIC

Australian Red hot Ash Barty going to the next round as she won against Danka Kovinic with straight set victory.

First-round showing her dominance and put pressure on Kovinic. The match has ended in just 44 minutes.

SUMIT NAGAL SUFFERS A FIRST ROUND LOSS

India’s Sumit Nagal suffer defeat from world number 73, Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis.

Nagal’s challenged Ricardas, as from 4 -0 to equaling with 4-4 in the second set, after that Ricardas has stated to play baseline stroke to putting pressure. As result, Sumit has lost 2-6 5-7 3-6 in two hours and 10 minutes.
