Bright Enobakhare seemed to have scored the goal that could have given SC East Bengal a massive boost in their campaign but it was a 93rd-minute equalizer by Aridane Santana that gave Hyderabad FC a crucial point in their Top 4 battle. With the points being shared, it meant that ATK Mohun Bagan have now qualified for the ISL Semifinals.

The game started in a very eventless fashion as both Hyderabad FC and SC East Bengal looked to grab a foothold in the match. It took Hyderabad 21 minutes to create the first opportunity in the match as Joel Chianese forced Subrata Pal to make a save. SC East Bengal had two decent opportunities in the last five minutes of the half as both Ankit Mukherjee and Anthony Pilkington’s efforts were held onto by Laxmikant Kattimani for Hyderabad FC.

It was SC East Bengal who eventually grabbed the goal through Bright Enobakhare in the 59th minute, a goal which came from Narayan Das’ clearance of a Hyderabad FC attack.  Anthony Pilkington claimed the assist with his headed pass as Bright beat the two blue and yellow defenders to score the goal.

Akash Mishra had a glorious opportunity of equalizing when his long-range shot was well saved by Subrata Pal. Fran Sandaza thought he had equalized in the 73rd minute for Hyderabad but much to the relief of the East Bengal setup, the goal was ruled out due to the offside.

Sandaza was a crucial element in the game in stoppage time as his pass to Aridane Santana resulted in an equalizer. The game ended in a 1-1 draw between East Bengal and Hyderabad. While Hyderabad will feel they could have gotten all three points, even the solitary point was enough to temporarily take them into 3rd place while for East Bengal they jumped above the Blasters in the table.

Akash Mishra of Hyderabad was awarded the Hero of the Match for his performance while Anthony Pilkington of East Bengal was awarded the DHL Winning Pass of the Match. Chennaiyin FC play FC Goa at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim at 7:30 pm IST on 13th February 2021. The match will be telecasted LIVE on Star Sports 2 and Hotstar. Stay Tuned!
