Australian Open 2021 – Day 6: Svitolina, Barty, Tsitsipas and Medvedev headed to round 4, Pliskova, Bencic bow out

On Day 6 of the Australian Open, Svitolina crated another Major upset.

Ukrainian tennis player and currently fifth seed Elina Svitolina has claimed straight-set 6-4, 6-0 victory against Yulia Putintseva, who is 26th seeded player.

This victory is crucial for Elina as that she has won her last 9 matches in a row with her powerful performance on the court. The 26-year-old American, importantly for Elina it’s her first-time entry in the fourth round of any grand slam tournament with her fantastic performance in tennis.


Barty’s winning streak continues

World No.1 Ash Barty has secured a place in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2021 with the win against Ekaterina Alexandrova from Russia.

Barty had completely taken control of the match from the beginning and ended in her favour with 6-2, 6-4 win. at the same time, Barty has withdrawn from doubles with partner Jennifer Brady only to focus on her singles.

“It’s actually a very small tape job we just wrap it to make sure it stays on. I can’t really hide it but I’m fit as a fiddle, I’m good to go” Barty had said after beating Gavrilov post her doubles match presentation.


Karolina Pliskova crashes out of Australian Open

World No. 25 Karolina Muchova has created upset by winning the match against world no. 6 Karolina Pliskova with 5-7, 5-7 set victory.

Karolina Muchova continued her winning streak from the last seven games. In the second set from 0-5 down to 5-7, that’s surreal come back to reach in the last 16 of the Australian Open.

11th seed Belinda Bencic has also faced defeat from Elise Mertens with a 6-2, 6-1 score. This one is also a major upset in women’s singles as Elise is currently the 18th seed player and Belinda is the 11th seed player.

Tsitsipas has entered the Fourth round

In men’s singles, Fifth-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas cruised into the fourth round of the Australian Open after his straight-sets win over Mikael Ymer. The Greek professional Tsitsipas won the match 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 against his Swedish rival.

22-year-old Tsitsipas has played really good tennis against Ymer and rolled him out, at the same Tsistipas looks promising with his performance in Australian open Grand slam.


Medvedev survived Krajinovic test

On Saturday Daniil Medvedev went into a tough fight against Filip Krajinovic on Saturday finally at 5th set Dani has claimed victory with 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6, 6-0.

Dani’s 3 hour and six minutes show has winning result with that he has extend his winning streak to 17 matches and going into the fourth round of the Australian Open.
