Mumbai City FC had a rather surprisingly ineffective start to the game with some aimless passing in the middle of the pitch. Odisha got a spot-kick in the ninth minute after Mawihmingthanga was taken down which was converted by their superstar Diego Mauricio to give them the lead. It only took Mumbai a few minutes to equalize from an Ahmed Jahouh freekick which was headed home by Bart Ogbeche.

Adam Le Fondre had a great chance to improve on his goal tally but Odisha somehow got that cleared off the line. Bipin Singh gave the lead to Mumbai in the 38th minute when he converted a deflected Ogbeche shot while reacting the quickest. Another Ahmed Jahouh set-piece was headed home by Bart Ogbeche yet again to double Mumbai’s advantage. Just before halftime, Cy Goddard pulled off a stunning finish from the right with his left foot. Mumbai City went into halftime with a 4-1 advantage.

The Ogbeche-Bipin combination was in full tandem again as they combined at the start of the second half to score a beautiful 5th goal for Mumbai City FC and result in a second Bipin goal. Jerry came close for Odisha in the next few minutes but only hit the side netting. Bipin Singh had a chance to score his hat-trick at the hour mark but couldn’t keep his header down.

Mumbai City FC kept on creating panic in the Odisha backline as Sergio Lobera’s men kept pushing for a sixth goal. Vikram Pratap Singh won a penalty. Ahmed Jahouh’s penalty was very well saved by Arshdeep Singh but only in the next couple of minutes, Bipin Singh scored his third goal of the night to become the first player in this season’s Indian Super League to score a hat-trick.

Mumbai beat Odisha 6-1 and because of the nature of victory, Mumbai City FC are now level on goal difference with ATK Mohun Bagan, and a win against the Kolkata-based side on Sunday would put Mumbai’s hands on the ISL Shield. Jamshedpur FC host Bengaluru FC at Tilak Maidan Stadium on 25th February 2021 which will be telecasted LIVE at 7:30 pm on Star Sports 2 and Hotstar. Stay Tuned!
