The opener for the Royals and the Kings promises some glorious feast amidst the Monday blues. The franchise from Punjab tweaked a bit with their name and their team composition this season. Mohammed Shami’s return to fitness already promises a lot for the Kings. While Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, and fellow Aussie Moises Henriques make it to the PBKS setup the signing of Dawid Malan adds some much-needed depth to the batting lineup.

Malan could be preferred over Gayle in the lineup to allow freedom to the openers, Rahul & Agarwal. Jalaj Saxena or Murugan Ashwin could be a choice to make as a partner for Ravi Bishnoi while Jhye could make his debut. Arshdeep Singh or Ishan Porel is another question for selection, but Arshdeep’s last season makes him a favorite. With a couple of batting anchors, the likes of Rahul, Agarwal, Pooran, and Shahrukh could all go for the full monty with the bat.

Rajasthan Royals have rumored to open the batting with Stokes and Buttler with Livingstone coming in to strengthen the middle order along with Chris Morris to complete the foreign players’ spots. Sanju Samson will make his captaincy debut for the Royals on Monday. Gopal and Tewatia will be the key spinners in this team along with Livingstone chipping in with a couple of overs.

RR will definitely go all guns blazing with the English opening combination and hope to make the most of the powerplay and depend on the other two foreign players along with Dube, Tewatia, and Samson to provide the finishing touch. Tyagi could be key with the ball for RR.

Punjab Kings lead the head-to-head record by 12-9 while the Royals won both the matches in UAE during IPL 2020. Royals like to chase and they will be hoping to bat second like both matches last season to get the W.

Rajasthan Royals (RR): Ben Stokes, Jos Butter, Sanju Samson (C), Riyan Parag, Liam Livingstone, Shivam Dube, Rahul Tewatia, Chris Morris, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Kartik Tyagi.

Punjab Kings (PBKS): KL Rahul (C), Mayank Agarwal, Dawid Malan, Nicolas Pooran, Moises Henriques, Shahrukh Khan, Jhye Richardson, Jalaj Saxena, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

Ben Stokes: The English all-rounder will be one of the top picks for captaincy in this match. The MVP season is still fresh in the memory of many and he has the potential to repeat the same in IPL 2021. He scored a century last season while opening the batting, Stokes got 285 runs at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 142 in just 8 matches. Stokes was crucial in the India versus England series which was recently concluded. With his boundary-hitting abilities along with wickets and catches, Ben Stokes becomes a massive pick in your fantasy teams.

KL Rahul: IPL 2020’s Orange Cap winner and Punjab Kings skipper Rahul will be a great pick as a vice-captain in this match. His boundary-hitting abilities along with the consistency to get big scores will be key for PBKS this season. KLR has a good record against the Rajasthan Royals in the past while scoring some important runs in this head-to-head. His stumpings/catches probability also helps his bet as a must-have fantasy pick.

The Wankhede stadium is better suited for a run-chase which makes the toss extremely crucial considering the short boundaries and the dew factor. RR won both matches against PBKS last season while chasing and with Stokes and Buttler up top, they will be hoping to chase again. The pace and bounce in the pitch will suit both batting units and we might see a high-scoring game on Monday. The team winning the toss and chasing will have the advantage in this match between the Royals and the Kings.
