Indian women’s cricket team to play their first ever Pink ball test during Australia Tour


The first-ever day-night test series for Indian women’s cricket will be played against Australia In September 2021 as they play their first test series against England in seven years.

On Thursday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that The Indian Women’s cricket team will play their first-ever day-night test during the Australia tour in September.

The women are currently preparing for the England tour. Post that, in September, the team play against the Australian team, as equilibrate of postponed series in January of this year due to COVID-19.

Impressively, India and Australia will see each other in the Test after 15 years. The last time they both met was in February 2006.  This is the first time that Mithali Raj and her company, the Indian Women’s team will play the pink-ball Test.

Both teams will play only test on the tour as the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that it will be played with pink ball. He officially announced on his Twitter handle to reveal the update on the series on Thursday morning. He said,

” Taking forward our commitment towards women’s cricket, I am extremely pleased to announce that Team India @BCCIwomen will play in their first-ever pink ball day-night Test later this year in Australia.” 


The schedule of the whole tour is yet to announced by BCCI. Till now both Cricket Australia (CA) and BCCI had not officially announced the tour.  It’s only an update from Jay Shah.

Head to head record for women’s team

Considering the head to head record of India and Australia in Tests, the Aussies women have won four out of nine matches while the other five ending with a draw. Indian Women are yet to claim victory over Australia in the test, and the Indian team is keen on creating history later this year.

Quarantine for Indian players

Selected Indian men and women players for the England tour are completing their quarantine in Mumbai. The BCCI has arranged a chartered flight for the players to help them to reach Mumbai where they will be quarantined for 14 days and also be tested regularly for COVID-19.

India Women’s tour of England will start from June 16 with a four-day Test match followed by three ODIs and three T20Is matches.
